After the battle with the Brother Moon over Tau Volantis, Isaac Clarke and John Carver wake up on the surface of Tau Volantis, shocked to find out that after falling to their near death, they are still alive, they then make their way across the surface of the frozen planet, finding memories of the horror they had experienced. After finding out that the Marker signal was still causing insanity, suicide and Necromorphs, they battled through more of the threat that Isaac and Carver had just faced. They then found out about a Unitoligist ship that can take them back to Earth. After witnessing many ships lift off, they find out that the Shockpoint Drive in the ship is missing...

As far as I know Carver was forced to be added to the main game by EA during the later stages of development so they had to change already finished parts of the game which had been planned without him. But during the development of DLC Carver has already become canon, so the script included him from the begining and there were MUCH more interactions with him.

@@sbraypaynt Personally, I was kind of okay with it after initial anger. Rather than letting EA kamikaze the series into the ground, Visceral went out on their own terms. Though, I'd have loved it if we had a fourth Dead Space running a start like how Doom Eternal did with Issac and Carver getting boots on the ground and joining the fight against the Necromorphs.

@@Daybreak-Five there is no fight against the necromorphs though. Convergence is happening and they’re surrounded by like 4 moons so there’s literally nothing anyone on earth could do. At least we’re getting the Callisto protocol though :)

I mean, did you play the first game? Half the reason Isaac was aboard the Ishimura was to find Nicole. Dead Space has always been about Isaac falling for Women. A mirror of how its spiritual predecessor, Resident Evil has a character Women constantly trip over themselves for (Leon).

I think it's a perfect conclusion .... It's very realistic , not another the hero wins and we live another day story. The moons were infinite times smarter than Isaac , bigger than Isaac , cruel than Isaac , he stood no chance.

The ending fits with the theme of the franchise: the Brethren Moons spreading across the universe, creating a dead space wherever they touched, explaining the lack of life in the universe outside of humanity. The Fermi Paradox, solved with a Great Filter which takes the shape of a moon, devouring all life, infinite in strength, uncaring of life. always hungry, and beyond the scope of our understanding. The first two games were as much victories over the Brethren Moons as a zebra thinking it outran the lion, when in fact its cornered itself in the lions' den. If a super advanced alien race couldn't beat them, killing itself to stop a single moon from becoming whole, what chance did we ever have to take them? It's all in the name: Dead Space. That's all that's left of our little sector of space, silence and corpses.

And they were all awoken once danik turned off the machine (minus the one that Issac took down). But didn't know where still because Ellie being the sole survivor is one of the very few rare were immune to the Marker's signal meaning the brothern moons couldn't use her to mark Earth's location when she made her escape (which is where Issac & Caver unfortunately came into play being coincidentally alive).

they were built to last. Dead space tecnology isnt developed like today wich is non durable products because new technology will make them obsolete. Instead they build them to last because who knows when there will be new tech, and you can see in 200 years little has improved compared to today. I remember seeing developer interview about this design choice

I love this game. No matter what anyone thinks, you cant deny the hard work of both graphic and voice acting they did for this game. Made it sound so good. I do enjoy this game and its only fun to fans who play this with enough attention towards it. But the fact they change the horror survivor game into a action game was a bit of a hard turn for this series. I blame EA for making such a change to a great series. I just hope for the love of RNGESUS that they remake is good.

That ending definitely seems to warrant more. I recently went through the series the first time since i missed it as it came out. Things like visceral getting canned by ea is why i don't really like getting into new/older things anymore lol. But, ill just peg that for a hallucination and pretend everything is fine 😂.

The real reason why I think they found Earth was when the Marker on our moon reached convergence, it sent a signal to the others. Basically, Isaac should never have left the moon from the beginning of Dead Space 3.

Nope, the first time we meet danik he said in every colony of the galaxy there was a marker searching lab and he sent them free, even if Isaac stayed in the moon the brethen moon would find them for the marker on earth or any other planet of the solar system

The best part about this is that if you had only just not bought the DLC, not tried to grasp for more, wanting another ending, you get it. You get to go passed the happy ending where humanity is saved, passed the ending where the Brethren Moons are defeated and cut off from humanity thanks to your heroic sacrifice. Now, Isaac and Carver get to go home, right where the Moons want you to go, wanted you to continue living so you could lead them to Earth. Your selfish desire to keep living killed everyone, because what you had accomplished just wasn't enough. Like a Brethren Moon, your hunger will never fade, you'll always want for more, even if the whole world has to die to sate your thirst. It just wasn't enough for you.

BVixent I think that was the point. They were going down hill money wise and with EA at the time buying their rivals they knew they wouldn’t last long. DS3 is a great game in of itself as a third person shooter but not as a horror game. The DLC stuck true to its predecessors while also killing the franchise with a bang. We know how it began, we know how it happened and we know how it ended. The story is over because other wise it would have turned into another Call of Duty, Gears of War or Resident Evil. Cheap games that are copied and pasted with endless sequels year after years

This is basically Mass Effect 2: Arrival. You destroy the Mass Relay, but it’s too late. You simply delayed the inevitable and the Reapers still came. I just feel that DS4 would’ve ended with the destruction of the Moons too.

so does anyone know on those movies or shows when someone gets drugged or something and hallucinate then people would find them screaming because of their hallucinations? i bet Isaac and carver will be found in space hallucinating or being unconscious or in getting ready to fight because of a hallucination or the moons disappear because they weren’t actually there and they rush to earth to warn everyone like originally planned

The developer had plans for a Dead Space 4. I always imagined that it turns out that the Ishimura was blown into deep space after the explosion of the Sprawl. The protagonists find it and use its tractor beams to planetcrack the moons.

@@MumboJumboZXC That's why I consider the canon to be Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Dead Space 2 Severed, and Dead Space 3. Dead Space 3 Awakened never happened. It was all a dream. Isaac and Carver are still dead... for me, anyways. Best give it all a happy ending and make their sacrifice worthwhile.

@@alphabetaed3007 no. That is not dead space. I don't like the way the suits look. All of dead space's suits were iconic and memorable. Issac and Carver best partner duo ever. I want to see them both return in dead space 4 if that ever happens. God I hope the remake does good so EA can say "hmm I guess people still like dead space. Dead space 4 it is"

@@alphabetaed3007 nah. The dlc and the story was actually good. The cliffhanger ending at the end was good. And it makes me hyped to see what the dead space 4 would be like if it is to ever come out. The only 2 main reasons why people back in 2013 didn't like dead space 3 was #1 not a horror game anymore (more action adventure), #2 micro transactions in a singleplayer survival game

This was too good of a franchise to have a true ending so quick and blatant. I understand that people think this is the true ending, but it was just too fast and quick, so what? BOOM! Everyone is gone, and the only thing we can accept is that the moons won, but we have to accept it based on a few seconds of a cutscene. I dont mind the dark ending but in a DLC? With only a couple of seconds? DS3 shouldve just ended at the base game ending, Issac- a man going slightly insane but fighting the hallucinations, the necromorphs, and religous fanatics all the way. Carver, a man similar to Issac, but he is a soldier that puts up with no bullshit, he is there and fighting for the mission and ONLY the mission. They both sacrifice themselves, Issac does it for Ellie to make up for his wife, he loves Ellie and she loves him, so he gives his life to prevent what happened to his wife. Carver, he sacrifices himself for the mission, to make sure noone else suffers what his family did. But yet, THIS is the ending? In a DLC The base game ending was great, especially with the tease that our heroes lived, and they shouldve just ended it there. They beat the Markers, we can speculate that they were saved and Ellie and Issac lived happily after it, but NO. We gotta get a direct linearity to how EA killed Visceral in a DLC. DS4 better happen with a different company!

Tbh I was thinking the same thing. It seemed the markers were only tracking Isaac and not carver. If Isaac had stayed behind and carver left, then it could have worked out. Unless they were tracking carver too. Then we are just fked
