She lives in a drawer, instead in the wild where she belongs. He has an MRI machine, but he needs the tv Vet to come and read it? You don’t buy expensive machines, if you can’t use it. The whole episode was staged. They knew she was pregnant.

Yeah, I mean her keepers obviously knew they'd mated her with a male, this was not unexpected like they were pretending it was. Such a dramatic and stupid way to approach the topic of her pregnancy (death adders give birth to live young, so she was pregnant, rather than gravid). I work in the vet industry in Australia as a nurse, and have encountered Dr Chris Brown at a few conferences over the years; he's a bit of a dick and an egotistical show-off and doesn't have a great reputation among his veterinary colleagues. His shows like Bondi Vet have always annoyed the crap out of me because he's so performative and fake, and consistently chooses to put theatrics and manufactured drama ahead of factual information. The way that vet hospitals and their staff are portrayed in his TV shows is so far from reality, watching him gives me second hand embarrassment.

@SupremeViola 7 ай бұрын
It depends on the species and sometimes snake to snake, but it's very common for snakes to refuse food while gravid because the babies/eggs take up so much space in their body they literally lack the space to process a meal. This does mean that snake moms tend to lose quite a bit of weight laying eggs or giving birth, but this weight fluctuation is as normal for them as it is for bears that hibernate.

@justcountry84 just to give you context: from the perspective of people who keep reptiles, even beginners- this is blatantly nonsensical content to the point of being misinformation. It's unthinkable that a vet would be surprised that the snake is gravid. There was no mystery. It's not a big deal. Just really annoying film making when they could be addressing actual, interesting topics that matter.
@rosypearson5167
@rosypearson5167 6 ай бұрын
@ryanfox85 can you imagine even bothering to do an ultrasound sound for this? Haha. I wonder if there was an actual complication they were checking or if it's just a complete nonsensical stunt. Also- keepers at the level they represent the snake owner as would know: female snakes conserve sperm so, if she's ever been with a male in the last few years, it's always possible for her to become pregnant. I think it is seasonal tho? Not completely certain on that.

@@untamedwildlifeTV my first set of babies i ever got, was from a huuuge female beardie i had acquired. We had no idea she had mated at some point. She got really fat, but then one day she looked like she was near death. Her fatty packs on her head sunk, she was soooo lethargic, so i made an immediate vet appointment for next morning, i got up, got her blanket and kennel ready, took her out of her viv, put her on my living room table for a sec to perfect her travel accomodations, and she squatted on the table and proceeded to lay 26 huge eggs. Called vet, said uhhhhhh Houston.... i think we found the problem! Lol We let her lay her eggs and "bury" them, and then she went for a check up. Clean bill of health. She was just preggies lol. She bounced back within a couple weeks and looked amazing after. A lil loose in the belly area 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 All 26 babies arrived on MOTHERS DAY! it was one of the best experiences of my life!

@@KathrynRose-schultz-qs6qw Antivenom IS what they keep them for. That and to educate people what they look like because pictures don't often do it justice. Also, statistically, the way the vast majority of snake bites occur is people trying to move or kill a venomous snake, or going into known-venomous-snake territory without being properly prepared with thick boots/pants etc. Snakes, both venomous and non-venomous, keep the mice and rat population down (which have caused literally millions of human and animal deaths by the diseases they carry and are far worse for humans than snakes ever will be. Snake bites come mostly from just human foolishness/ignorance and the numbers per year of truly accidental snake bites that could not have been somehow prevented are so small as to be negligible.) So even though venomous snakes are technically dangerous, the alternative to having them is to have mice and rats out of control. So you can't just put a bounty on them and kill them willy-nilly.
