In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov walks you through a very interesting variation in the Scotch Game, which happens after the first moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4.
The variation that he shows you is aggressive and is less known. Therefore, you can use it to surprise your opponent, especially in blitz games, where they have less time to find the best moves.
Additionally, all the moves by Black are pretty much forced, so there is no way for your opponent to get away from this opening trap.

Bxf7 wins because after knight takes and queen(white)takes and queen(black) takes we can play nxd6 which forks the king and the queen and after we take the queen the king can't capture the knight as it is protected by the rook on f1 right?

Interesting line after Qxe4 9. N1c3 Qxh1 10. Nxc7+ Kd8 11. Qd6 Nf6 12. Nxa8 where it’s a bit better for black but there is a lot of chances for both sides

It would be helpful to know what to do in case night takes the bishop on C4. Knight to D5. Chase the queen. Fork the king and rook, but what is the continuation?

How about white plays Nxd6+! Option 1: Qxd6 leads to Bxf7+. Now, Nxf7 is losing as Qxf7+, Kd8 (forced), Rad1 wins the queen. So king has to move. Sub-option 1: If black plays Kd7 or Kd8, Rad1 again wins the queen. Sub-option 2: If black tries Ke7, then Qg5+ leads to Kf8 as Kd7 allows Rad1, Qxd1, Rxd1+ taking the queen, Kc7 (only move), and then Qxe5+ taking the knight with check and white will also gobble up the rook (at h8) in the next move. So after Qg5+, black has to play Kf8, but now Bxg6+ uncovers a discovered check from Rook on f1. Now Kg7 is forced as any piece coming in the way of the rook will be ruthlessly captured with check, and after Kg7, white plays Bh5+ with a deadly attack. Sub-option 3: If black plays Kf8, then Bxg6+, Ke7, Qf8+. Now, Kd7, Rad1, hxg6, Qxd6+, Ke8, Qd8# or Rf8#. Game over. If instead of Kd7, black plays Ke6, Bf5# is a beautiful mate. Option 2: If king moves to the d file (d7 or d8), white plays Nxf7+ attacking the king and forking the rook at h8 and knight at e5. Black will lose significant material and also the game very soon. If king moves to f8, then Nxf7, Nxf7, Qxf7, Qxf7, Rxf7+, Ke8, Rd1 is winning with 2 extra pawns and 2 rooks and a bishop attacking!

@@adamsoto3988 After Nxd6+, if queen takes the knight, then Bxf7+ can be played. If knight captures bishop, queen takes knight with check as it is supported by rook on f1. The king has only one square to move and that is d8. This is what I wrote. What's wrong with this line?

Bxf7+, Nxf7; Kd8... White probably should not play Qxf7; because, white is loosing more material through the trade. (Has this been checked with an analysis engine?)
@TheAnshuman1974
@TheAnshuman1974 3 жыл бұрын
After Bxf7, Nxf7 is not forced. Black can simply play Kd8 and white's attack gets fizzled out with the gain of just one pawn. Instead, Nxd6+ throws up interesting lines. 1. If black moves the king to say f8, Nxf7, Nxf7, Bxf7, Qxf7, Qxf7 is mate. If king goes to the d file, black still gets the second pawn after Nxf7 attacking the rook at h8, and has a potent attack with Rad1 on the open d file where the king has landed. 2. If black responds with Qxd6, Bxf7+ is devastating for black. a) Nxf7 is met with Qxf7+, Kd8 (forced), and there comes Rad1 attacking both the queen and the king, winning the queen. b) After Bxf7+, if black moves the king, he has the following options: b1) Kd7 or Kd8 are useless as they invite Rad1 losing the queen. b2) Kf8 is met with Bxg6+ and now black has only two playable (Nf7 leads to Qxf7#) options - Ke7 and Kg7. Ke7 enables Qf8+. Now, Ke6 leads to a beautiful mate with Bf5#. Hence, after Ke7, Qf8+, Kd7 is forced and now Rad1 pins the queen to the king. At this stage, any move by black is losing the queen and the game. For example, hxg6 (say) leads to Qxd6+, Ke8, Qd8# or Rf8#. Instead of hxg6, Kc7 (say) also leads to Qxd6+ winning the queen with check. Mate will soon follow. Kg7 leads to Bh5 threatening mate with Qg5. Now, black has to play Qe7 or Qf6 or h3 to save the mate and the knight at e5. White would then play Rad1 taking control of the open d file. Now if black moves his knight, Qf7 is mate. Also, black queen is the only defender of its knight, the rooks have not moved whereas all the white pieces are attacking the black king.
