The FBI Files

3 жыл бұрын

The story of Florida drug dealer Jeff Matthews who committed the only bombing of a DEA office on American soil. Unravel the mystery alongside the FBI's greatest law enforcers and forensic scientists.
#TheFBIFiles #TrueCrime #DrugDealer
Season 4 Episode 11: In the 1980s, Florida's cocaine imports were among the highest in the nation and regional territories were enforced with intimidation and murder. One dealer would stop at nothing to keep FBI agents from building a case against him and began targeting the government itself.
The FBI Files is an American docudrama that takes a look behind the scenes of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory.
Real FBI cases are recounted through reenactments and interviews, due to the sensitive nature of the show, viewer discretion is advised.

I think that the authorities in thiscasewere overconfident about their dealings with Jeff matthews. Starting with their inability to protect an important federal witness, and culminating with their failure to anticipate the degree of violence that Jeff Matthews would go to defend his drug trade territury. The FBI, DEA, and ATF did not take their jobs, and Jeff Matthews seriously. I understand that they were constrained by the laws and regulations, but i cannot help but get the impression that the authorities were very passive and reactionary rather than pro active in their dealings with the criminal.

I will never understand what people find so appealing in the drug lifestyle... No amount of money warrants living a life of looking over your shoulder 24/7.
@mmmmSmegma
@mmmmSmegma 2 жыл бұрын
just like @patrick Spragg above me said; it's the lifestyle. Looking over your shoulder 24/7 to ordinary people like you and me is ridiculous and not worth it. Ask yourself why do drug addicts continue to use drugs while their life is crumbling around them? For the drug addict it's a combination of the horrible feeling of withdrawal and the lifestyle. I imagine for the dealer who doesn't personally use drugs it's a combination of the high they get from making lots of money and the lifestyle. All those things together create a cumulative effect that distorts their capacity for reasoning.

The girl actually deserves a lot of credit, first, for getting herself sober, and second, because when she got sober, she didn't just clear out and leave the whole situation behind, but she came to the police to try to get justice for the guy, even though she knew he was capable of murder.

I don't understand why he never got the death penalty. He murdered people, blew up Federal buildings, and of course made a living selling cocaine. I thought Florida was a place you didn't want to break the law, since it has the death penalty. Now, he gets free rent, recreation, and free medical (and probably a T.V., and maybe even a game console to relax while in prison). He will probably escape since he knows people on the outside, and has some intelligence, as in building a pipe bomb.

@@danfield6030 OK I'm Christian and from Ghana. Here parties are done with soft drinks like coca cola, fruit juice or champagne( non alcoholic). Parties aren't held every weekend like the US and if held it is because of a birthday or to celebrate an accomplishment like graduation. Smoking here is a no-no. I have never seen people smoke publicly like I saw in the US. Although I have seen a couple of boys smoke on video but it is regarded as highly immoral and is shunned even and especially by college kids. You usually see people drink at bars openly if it's at night and usually they are grown up like 30s and 40s or late 20s. But not to the point of throwing up or acting silly like I saw in the US. It is usually for a get together if it's grown ups of that age. But not smoking. For other drugs, not easy to acquire. People don't pop pills for fun. If they do, here, it is often because they had an illness that required a drug and now they're addicted. Hope that's clear.
