5:55 listened to “silence” on audiobook and in that Benjamin Raspail was a musician, dated Buffalo Bill, left Bill for a guy named Klaus, Bill kills Klaus and puts his head in a jar, and Hannibal kills Raspail and eats him. So this actually in line with the book lore.
@DrThrustbone
@DrThrustbone 2 ай бұрын
Also Raspail knew Bill had already killed a few homeless people and Klaus, and instead of going to the police he treated it like an inconvenience and even told Hannibal all this in therapy, which is why Lecter knew who Bill was when Clarice started questioning him.

Red Dragon is like a true crime podcast, focusing on the grisliness and violence of the crimes and who the killer was and less on the actual victims affected by it. As evidenced by the crime scene photos we didn’t get many glimpses of in the first film and a focus on the abuse Dolarhyde went through under his Grandmother. Manhunter is more like the police procedurals of the time and focuses on how the crime affects the detectives and victims and generally more sympathetic to them than the killer. While they follow the same plot lines, it’s interesting to see how different they are despite that.

Honestly after watching Red Dragon, Manhunter, and the NBC series I think the NBC series is my favorite version of Red Dragon and I think it's solely due to having the previous 2.5 seasons of history between all the characters involved. Not only that, but Mads Mikselsen as a much more subdued version of Hannibal, even when he's incarcerated which makes him so much more terrifying.

I hope at some point we get an adaptation where Dolarhyde more physically resembles his book counterpart, who was supposed to be an absolute unit in bodybuilder shape. Just the idea of someone who's both physically strong and massive and out of his mind bonkers is something I think would play really well on the screen.
@DAsrada

I caught the really good shape Fiennes was in for the role. As a bodybuilder myself I really approve. The work was actually done this time, rather than an actor just cutting weight and using camera angles.

@@DAsrada Fiennes was in good shape, no doubt. The Dolarhyde of the book though is described as MASSIVE and so muscular that the dragon tattoo on his back seemes animated by the muscles when he moves. That imagery I think would be really interesting if put to film.

@tuckershuff1441 I regularly get pretty big, and I'm trying to make it as an actor. Plus, I can inject a bit of personal connection: everyone said I looked really good, but due to suffering from rosacea all I saw was the ugly red spots. Like how all Dolarhyde saw was his palate scar, when people honestly did find him attractive.

Also, some of those videos are not in the correct order, so you should activate the "date published (oldest)" option for the playlist.

@@Sarahonwheels I often felt like if someone had somehow been in a coma since before Silence and woke up to watch Hannibal, they’d spend those first couple of episodes thinking that he was handsome, cultured man and be shocked when it came out who he was. Even knowing who he was, I still spent a lot of the show going “well he’d be a cool guy to have as a friend, as long as I wasn’t rude and didn’t really eat around him” and that’s all down to Mikkelsen.

Still think the Show is my favorite version of these books. The Casting for Will, Hannibal and Jack are 10/10 still crushed it got cancelled for “too high of production” so we never got their version of Silence of the Lambs we got all books beside that one which really sucks. So I usually watch the show then silence even if there are continuity errors.
