The shoe thing actually makes a lot of sense if you look into the mythology surrounding Leprechauns. Along with them having a thing for protecting their pots of gold, they're believed to also spend a lot, if not most of, their time making shoes.

I think it's that in many horror movies, the dumb people at least leads to fun slasher kills. So yeah it's annoying how dumb those people act but at least you can have fun seeing them get fucked up. In this movie characters are dumb without it leading to some cool horror/slasher moments. This means that they are dumb without getting any reward for it.

It's a bit odd that that part the lore (somewhat) survived to modern day, but the part about leprechauns using blood to make a pot of mead that made the drinker functionally immortal didn't (I'm assuming gold was more palatable than blood mead for modern audiences).

I saw this movie in Texas. Since I had these friends that love horror movies. Although they amused themselves by scaring me and telling me to go say Bloody Mary in the mirror three times. Once they told me either Jason or Freddy comes out at 3 am, it only scared me once till the true fear I gave to was my uncles house. I didn’t like being in there, especially this one hole in the ceiling to the attic.
