Chevy rolled out this plan for 1961. Also pushed the independent front suspension out front. Only businessmen bought trucks? And certainly a woman didn't drive a truck?

This style has really grown on me over the years. I wish trucks were more like this today, mechanically simple and relatively inexpensive.

Fun, thanks. Really shows how trucks were sold for work, not big luxury vehicles.

Kind of disappointed they didn't have the all new 1961 Corvair 95 trucks; Like the Loadside, & Rampside that had a bigger payload than the 1/2 ton full size Chevrolet Fleetside.

I think thats a whole film for the Corvairs... I am looking, i have a whole 1961 film set.

See that cliff over there Mr.Morgan ? The one where you can see down into the ocean 🌊? Mr. Morgan, why don’t you go ahead and spool up this ‘ole 283 …. Give her all she’s got to offer and sail off that cliff ! This way see - the Chevrolet will prove to you her durability and maximum performance !

I think most of them were 6 cylinders back then.

Probably my favorite truck design of all time. Not really sure what it is about it, just so weird.

Must have been a competitive salesman (Ford, Dodge, IHC, Studebaker)? GMC, not so much!

The BS they would tell you to get your attention so they can sell you a truck.🙄
The designer of the ugly 1961 front end must have returned to design the new Chevy HD grille. GM sometimes gets the urge to create the weirdest thing possible, then they quickly change it when they get a negative reaction.

New truck front ends look like a giant layer cake with too many layers.

@@tedecker3792 I'm fed up with most all of them. What's wrong with a simple bumper/ grille/ hood setup? It's like 1958 all over again, competing to see who can build the new Edsel. A Chevy on my block has 3 separated levels of the hood alone. It's a visual obstruction.

@@jeanclaude7018 most new trucks are really SUVs with short useless beds, especially mid size and compact models. I’m driving a 30 year old Nissan because I like the size and single cab layout. It’s got nearly 200k miles, but did a 9 hour road trip keeping up with traffic at 85mph. (Utah and Idaho speed limit is 80). If someone would build a truck with modern features (nav/bluetooth/adaptive cruise etc) I’d buy one in a heartbeat.

@@tedecker3792 Hey, I have a Hardbody too, 1987. 427,000 miles now. Recently took it from Redding to Monterey and back, over 10 hours. Did brakes and shocks and Amsoil and said my prayers. Just enough room to camp in the 6' bed, which USED to be the SHORT bed option. Your truck is very young and just broken in! If they built these again, they would fly off the lots, because everyone remembers how good they were. I hate seeing them parted out in the junkyards because many could be saved. We have the last of the breed.
