@NWI_Steel Upgraded to ones with bigger batteries for more range, and one was a lease. And we typically keep a vehicle for a couple of years and then move on. The current one I have had a year and am already thinking about getting a different one. But I love the Tesla brand, and the Supercharging network can't be beat.

I’ve had 6 different ICE cars in the last 6 years (1 totaled in an accident after owning it for two months). Sold my ‘22 Tucson last year for a Model Y when Tesla dropped their prices and it qualified for the tax credit again (7th car). Not sure how relevant how many cars you have (ICE or EV) in a specific amount of time.

I live in Las Vegas, I have a Mazda CX 50 turbo. City driving gets bad mileage, excellent on highway. It’s hot as hell and I already know mpg goes down and ac drops it lower, as expected. It’s best to just keep an eye on your range and plan accordingly, whether EV or ICE. I do like the new design language of Chevy, excellent! Whoever they hired likes cars and I can tell lol

My boss drives an electric Silverado, not because he wants to, but because corporate bought a bunch of them and "requested" that the big bosses throughout the company (I have about six underbosses I answer to, but he's the main dude) drive them. They HAVEN'T/DIDN'T install at least one permanent charging station, so the truck has to use a rinky-dink adapter that takes an extremely long time to charge a vehicle. This was a head-scratching decision, to say the least, because we have a few more EVs scattered about the parking lot. (If and when he shows up on the weekend, it's usually to plug in and switch out the EV for an ICE vehicle, and then he's gone with the wind) I drove it soon after it was delivered, and I felt like Cary Grant in "North By Northwest" - it makes a noise similar to a small propeller airplane following you around. 😲🤣

1 year old now, 30k miles, my new EUV has performed flawlessly. Used ONLY for rideshare, it has seen more then it's share of abuse. It has been front ended (Accidently played bulldozer with a pile of garden rocks.) Cant even tell, unless you look really really close and know where to look. It has been high ended. (Ran over some parking lot stall markers) It did plenty of scraping on the way off of those suckers. And most recently, it has been rear ended. This one, not my fault. Damaged the rear impact bar, just a scratch really but insurance requires it be replaced, original oem. Hell to get a replacement through a auto body shop here in California. Almost 3 months, n still waiting. New cosmetic panels cover that all up, till it arrives. Otherwise, it's a tank. Hard to stop. The best dang EV for the price. I'm a lifer now. No need to go back to gas for my next auto purchase, that I can see. Bravo Chevy, Bravo!

I don’t think it’s so much technique as much as its traffic conditions. I live at the southern mots edge of the DC area & on the occasions that I decide to drive into work which is in downtown DC I will use twice as much battery in the way to work than coming home because on the way home traffic is mostly bumper to bumper. However if I use the express lanes on the way home my efficiency is significantly less than what it is in the morning when there’s less traffic.

I get EV's but they have yet to reach the stage (where ICE's are) where you can just get in and go, no concerns about gain or losses from hills, AC, etc. We have owned a hybrid since 2006 as one of our cars and when EV's/Battery Tech reaches the stage where it resembles the ease of ICE's and Hybrids (longer range, easier recharging, etc.) then I will jump in the EV pool.

I’ve owned three different EV’s & I have NEVER had any of those concerns, I just get in my car & go just like any other car I’ve ever had. Just like in an ICE vehicle those concerns just don’t exist 99.9% of the time because just like in an ICE vehicle when you get to a certain state of charge you just plug in. Honestly that is something that is brought up by bias people who have no ideas what they are taking about and act as if things like HVAC, weather & hills don’t affect ICE vehicles as well.

@@jpmiller99 first let me just point out that the average road trip that Americans take is less than 350 miles so for 99.9% of all so called road trips an EV will get you there & back just fine & at most you’ll only have to stop just once. The simple fact is people don’t actually go on these long road trips like we think we do. Also, even in an ICE vehicle most people are stopping every 2-3 hours anyway if only to use the restroom & most DC fast charging stops are between 15-30 minutes which is only slightly longer than the average stop in an ICE vehicle. Second, I like upgrading my vehicles to fit my lifestyle. I’ve also bought three homes upgrading each time. If you want to keep the same car and/or house for ten or twenty years then good on you. However I’ve also never had any serious issues with any of my cars, I just wanted something different so when it came to a point where I would lose money I upgraded but trust me, you aren’t special because you decide to hold onto a car for ten years.
@jpmiller99
@jpmiller99 23 күн бұрын
@@kenyattaclay7666 my point is there is not an EV that I know of that will go 10 years, and even 350 miles of range is not doable in the real world with a buffer required in the event of chargers that don't work. Model y real world range sub 300. I am not speaking for others, but for myself. A drive 1000 mile road trips at least twice per year so I am not going EV until they solve the range and charging issues. Infrastructure sucks if you are not driving a Tesla. And I don't care about 99.9% of road trips, I care about mine. In the US we are not a collective

However you might want any to also consider reading into the history of the automobile itself, it was t exactly an option after a certain point when switching from the horse & buggy if you wanted transportation. You also might want to read about the expansion of the railroads or even how the interstate highway system was built. I could go in for days but I’d be here forever. Also, there’s a HUGE difference between what should happen & what shouldn’t. My ancestors shouldn’t have been forced to come to this country & build wealth for a ruling class. My other ancestors shouldn’t have been put on a forced march across the country because people wanted to take their land nor should Andrew Jackson been allowed to ignore a SCOTUS ruling that said that very land did not belong to the US.
