Pink Panther was my favorite movies to watch. Language was clean, no sex scenes, and you laughed through the entire movie. Dean Martin with Jerry Lewis were also favorites in our house. It was a shame when those two stopped making movies.

Besides his occasional pantomime what I miss most about Red is that if you "riffed" with him onstage he'd do that right back entirely in character and simply not relent. The audience would laugh and likely think that was all part of the scripted routine. He was a genuine anarchist. If it's still on the 'tube check him as George Appleby in a routine with Harpo Marx.

I can imagine someone back in 197x calling this "garbage" and complaining that it wasn't as good as the "real talent" back in the 40s and 50s.

Nipsey calling himself a token straight is very funny within the context of this sketch, but not exactly honest.

I, too, love Nipsey Russell's "token straight" ad lib.

On Match Game when a white lady contestant matched with Nipsey, he mentioned how come everyone else get's kissed, the lady came over and gave him a big kiss (the amount she won was enough to almost buy a house). I can't remember if he said "Once you go black, you never go back" for sure (I believe so), as I saw the show when it was on in the 1970's, but it would have been his type of adlib, Nipsey would have given.

Martin was a natural comedian for sure. As far as singing, he even had western hits. Very talented.

Absolutely! While Frank had the more authoritative voice, Dean was by far the stronger entertainer. He was so chilled with everybody he worked with and was the only member of the Rat Pack to truly conquer the field of television!

Sam Topeka 👍🏻I just happened to have a utube come on my iPhone the other morning. Every song was great, and yes, I heard him singing a Western song, that was very nice. I remember thinking that to myself, that it must have come from one of his Westerns, he starred in.

Frank had deep respect for Dean, envied his cool personality, the brilliant comedy and even Dean's singing.

They all had demons in showbizz. Not an easy career to have and keep. But Sellers talent was pure entertainment at its best.

He used to crack up doing The Goon Show as well.

Absolutely true. Greg Garrison, the show's producer, once said in an interview that is exactly what happened with this bit. Sellers brought the character to the show, not the rehearsal.

He had it in his contract. He felt that he needed to hear it fresh and the reaction would be real

Nota: Thankfully there is fim, video, and digital evidence of just how good some of these entertainers were. It has been wonderful to go back mentally and relive moments of my youth, and maybe even better to see scenes of f my favorite entertainers that I have never seen before. Thanks for posting.

To a lot of the audience, that was just a humourous racial stereotype. To others, it was, and still is, everyday reality.
