One thing Dean was known for on his show was his refusal to rehearse. So his reactions were completely spontaneous and genuine.

The guy was a genius. Not only could he mimic a drunk so well that it made you wonder if he was really smashed or acting the part. Not only that but he NEVER broke character. In all the time I have seen him act, the audience would be howling with laughter and he never so much as cracked a smile at his antics. THAT is the mark of a true professional.

Two class acts that cannot be replaced. Humor at its best, absolutely brilliant. Anyone can do bathroom humor and I mean anyone. Only real talent can do this. God bless them both may they rest in peace. They gave the world great happiness and joy. That is the greatest gift of all!

Clean family-friendly comedy. Timeless. How mr brooks can keep a straight face while making everyone bust a gut laughing is just plain skills not many comedians now days have this ability

The skill and professionalism required to control that act is incredible. I love how Brooks bows out at the end - sober. Real class.

When I watch these I think of my Mom and Dad in the living room and my brothers and sisters running around the house playing. Back then you thought you would never age. What I wouldn't give to go back for one night and experience all that again. Mom and Dad are gone now so with one Brother, don't take anyone for granted.

Amen Brother. I think we had a shared experience then. My Mom and Dad would watch that as well as the Dean Martin Roasts. Who could forget the Dean Martin Roasts??? There was a comedian who played a Mafioso gangster, Sammy Davis Jr, Don Rickles and on and on. Did those happen in the mid or late 70's? Seems like an eternity ago for me as well. Hey! Thanks for sharing...

Okay. I'm old. The first time I saw Foster Brooks on "The Tonight Show." Carson was the host and no-one had ever heard of Brooks. Carson had just moved the show from New York to California. Brooks was introduced as the mayor of Burbank who had made a special trip to welcome Johnny to his new home. Dear Lord, but it was funny! Carson, of course, explained that it was not the real mayor of Burbank but a comedian named Foster Brooks. According to Wikipedia, that was in 1972 - and I still remember it . . . 46 years later.

God rest both of your wonderful, loving, talented, heartfelt souls. May your souls forever rest in eternal peace in God's eternal kingdom. All of us GREATLY and DEEPLY miss both of you so much. You will always be in everyone's hearts and prayers and always remembered and never forgotten. In closing, this writer would like to offer a poem in memory of your talented and class entertainment, and what you did for all of us: The sun goes down and leaves warmth upon the land. The tide recedes and leaves seashells in the sand. The music stops and echoes in sweet refrain... For all you`ve done and given to all of us, only beautiful, heartfelt and cherished memories will forever remain.
