There are three things that are really funny about this: First it means that the Dean's feelings and attitude towards Jeff are somewhat justified because of these text conversations. Second, in addition to it being a Japanese phone number, the dean should already have Jeff's number because of the school records and other group texts from the save Greendale committee. Third: The dean thinks Jeff is texting back because Jeff once revealed (gas leak year) that he always texts even when he does not have someone to text to so people think he is cool.

The confused look of Jeff face gets me when the Gay Dean brings the cans of olives how do they stay in character I would be on the floor laughing 😹

This whole episode I keep asking "How can he be this stupid?" Even when the kid is admitting that he's not Jeff, the Dean just refuses to let it register with him, because he is is just so obsessed with Jeff. I think there must be some degree of denial here, on his part.
