This just shows why you buy hammers from Bosch.
22 years old, worn out, bearing collapsed, motor nearly siezed. But with a little TLC, it's running like new again.
This Old Bosch GBH7DE hammers were a deadly machine. 20 years is nothing these machines.
Change the brushes, don't let the bearings go bad, a service when needed, and these these Bosch hammer would never die.
This one was risky, as if the motor was bad, it would not be worth fixing. Also, due to the age and condition of the hammer, a full service probably wouldn't be worth it. especially with a broken tip plate.
Iv learned from experience to simply get it running and dont waste time. If the motor works OK, then try to get it hammering again.
Never assume the motor is good. Always get the motor running first before spending any more time or money on a machine. Otherwise, you could be wasting your time and money.

I love the longer format videos (30 mins plus)! The type doesn't really matter, the box full of tool and these more in-depth on one tool, they are all good! Happy Holidays!

I love the long videos with only one machine to be repaired. I like all the details with part numbers for parts and grease. Very helpful ! Soon i’m going to give my old Bosch GSH 5 CE a small service with new o-rings, grease and brushes 🙂 I don’t know why but you repairing Bosch hammers is my absolute favourites 🙂

I have an older and larger machine, used to break concrete off fence posts. Amazing engineering goes into these! Have been repairing my own tools since 2004,but always ready to learn more. Despite owning 6 sds-max,have been scared to open them up. My oldest definitely needs a cleaning and re-grease. I prefer the more in depth single posts personally. Thanks and merry Christmas!

I like both the longer detailed video like this when dealing with a single machine and also the "grab bag" mix of tools with quick fixes. So I'd vote for continuing with a combination of the two. You're great at explaining what you're doing and why in both sorts, and that's a great help to the rest of us to learn from a tool repair master.

Commenting for the algorithm, awesome repair Dean! I like both kinds of videos - sorry if that doesn’t help, but I’ll either watch these longer ones at the end of my day when my own repairs fail (I watch yours to get some motivation that eventually whatever I’m working on will be fixed), or I’ll watch your sprint fix videos during lunch for motivation to continue pushing through the day when I have limited time and know I can switch off without missing where I’m at Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺👍

I don't mind too much if it's many tools per video or just one, so long as the detail and information is there I don't mind the package too much. Doing a bit of both video types would have my vote. I used to be a network technician (technically still am but it's like 10% of work time if that now as the network just works fine), then I started repairing PCs along with that. Then the coffee maker. Then the dishwasher. Now I'm doing power tools at home as a hobby and a way to afford tools way out of my price range, broken costs not much it turns out and so many just get tossed over a bearing being dead it blows my mind. And while I could have and did figure out those repairs on my own, they always broke down again with milder use than I anticipated. Watching these has really opened my eyes to a lot of smaller tricks these mechanical devices need that you just wouldn't think of coming from an IT background. This has also helped me learn how to fix laptop hinges much better somehow, was just watching a bucket of tools video in the background working on that and something suddenly clicked with how those hinges divide force over a wide area but with age develop a wobbly, putting all the force on the end and then ripping the housing. Also lazy other techs often put only one screw back out of 3 to the same effect. Your insights have made me a hero at my job and have helped me take up woodworking with tools I could normally never afford. For that you have my thanks.

dean, im glad your channel came along. its going to make my winter tool clean up go so much more easier. i do concete and at the end of every season, i tear down my tools, corded and cordless, clean all the dust and dirt out, re lube and repair as needed. after all, they make me money so i dont want them going down in the middle of the season which wouldnt be that big of a deal as i stock my own parts but finding the time is another thing. as far as videos, i appreciate any and all repair/informational vids. because i use them so much, i like the in depth, how/why it works bosch rotohammer vids of any model as i have 5 different size hammers from the 1 1/8 sds plus all the way up to 1 1/8 hex. i believe in having the right tool for the job plus it doesnt overwork the tool. thanks again and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

You can buy the greases from Bosch also in 1000ml containers. Just change the last digit of the partnumber, for the lighter stuff the code for 1000ml container ends with 016.

I do, but I have to say no. The cost is usually more than a new machine. Sadly, I have been caught out by this too many times now. To often when the repair is done and they have to pay the same price as a new machine or sometimes more, they decide they no longer want to pay that much and never return for it. Leaving me with an overpriced used machine, I can't even sell.

There is, but I better not post it. The main problem for me is they charge 30euro delivery charge for spare parts, the quality of the tools has dropped massively. But the main problem is the dredded red service light.
