Getting an old Elu KGS 172 Flipover saw up and running again.

These where a fantastic machine in their day. An Elu flipover saw, a table saw and miter saw all in one.
You can still buy flip over saws today, makita and dewalts both still make them.
Not very common today, but have thier uses.
Don't think many tools where built quite like this Elu, this thing is coming 40 years old and still running a treat.

I have one of these. Used to use one back in the 80's. Still have one. Never use as a drop saw anymore. Mine is set up as a tablesaw only. And still brilliant. Quality saw. I have improvised a few parts on mine over the years. And my rip fence is home made. Hopefully can keep her going.

Very easy. Timber fence with a threaded rod fixed to it. Block either end that tightens up via a nob on one end. It just grips the edges of the table. I have cut all sorts with it, big and small. Works great. @@TheSP6T

Have several Elu circular saws and a Elu chopsaw. Great video, will use it when I get a Elu flip saw to restore it.

I have the replacement model Dewalt flip over saw and its not working. I have tear it down, good to know the capacitor needs to be discharged! I had thought once unplugged there wouldn't be any electrical shock risk, you've probably saved me a belt!

Dewalt bought them out in the late 90's , they were very popular at that time.

Got an old Elu 1/4inch router that I still use pretty regularly even tho I have 2 other cordless makita ones now. it’s just ergonomically much nicer to use if the jobs bigger.

I have an elu chopsaw 220v, bought i think in 1995 for me by my father when i was a clueless apprentice, used about 4 times ever, wonder what it is worth nowadays? Still have the legs aswell, they were in the shed, a bit of rust on them though😂
