Agreed and he looks different here. At first I thought it was another actor the I read his name on the Credits. He looked young.

As someone that lost their father as a young kid and living with my mom who had to be mom and dad + working 3 jobs to maintain us.... this one hits hard. Yes the songs are beautiful, but the story for some reason is so moving as well. It’s definitely a combination. When I went to see it live in nyc there was no dry eye in sight.

I never saw this live. I saw it on Freevee and couldn't stop crying. Ben Platt did such a great job on the character, I really didn't think twice about how he might be too old. I basically am Evan Hansen on the inside, still, even at 60. Everyone seems to sail through life so easily, without a second thought; it was nice to see a movie that showed me I'm not really the only one.

I love Ben Platt's reprisal of this role. For whatever reason it is, let him play this role as the final curtain call to his famous performance. Seeing Amy Adam's facial expression to seeing Connor's name on Evan's cast you cannot help but sympathize and empathize her role as crush mother who just wants to know if her son mattered to anyone in this world. Tear jerker scene.

We fully agree! The role was written for him and his voice/inflections are forever engrained in our minds. Amy Adams was such a smart choice for Connor’s mom - and we know she is musically inclined and will deliver there. 🤩

So good onstage. I usher at a theater so I only got to see the Broadway touring show once before covid shut it down but hoping to see it again and I hope the movie doesn't mess with story.

Ben Platt was deserving of all the accolades and awards that he received for his performance but it's wrong to think that the impact of the story and these songs would be somehow diminished if performed by someone else (more age appropriate) for the film. There have been numerous actors in the role since Ben left that have been praised for their performances ... see any clips of Andrew Barth Feldman on Broadway or Sam Tutty in the West End production who went on to win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2020

I am glad it's Ben. He deserves it. People need to know why he is a big thing.
