OMG. The VERY BEST reactions to this trailer are from people who don't know the story and are in TEARS by the end. Even though I know the story and have watched this trailer a LOT of times, I am still in tears by the end, especially watching someone else watch it. This is going to be a really good movie, and I am glad they put Ben Platt in the role (original Evan Hansen on Broadway) even though he's kind of old to play a teenager now.

Ben said in an interview that the movie has more "Act III development." So we'll see more of the fallout of Evan's actions and how he picks up all the pieces. I'm thrilled to hear that. I thought the end of the Broadway show was beautiful, but more resolution will be nice. And I know I'm going to be bringing my biggest pair of sunglasses and six boxes of tissue into the theater with me come September.

It doesn't have to be your favorite show, it's totally normal. I connected to the character of Evan because I also have Social Anxiety and I understand all his feelings and fears.

Great reaction video. While it's true that there aren't a lot of external consequences in the plot for Evan's toxic actions, his internal state of self-hatred seems a poignant enough consequence. The song Words Fail is torturous to experience (especially the way Ben performs it) and shows layers of trauma that both led to his damaging choices and also became the mechanism for long-term consequences. I think the audience is meant to celebrate personal growth instead of looking for external punishment.

You know watching Lacie's reaction to this film trailer makes me wonder if a lot of parents who will watch this film will empathize and think of whether their children have inner turmoils that they cannot break free of especially in today's harsh environments. I broke down in tears watching the trailer a while back but seeing Lacie brings it home even more. Talk about relatable themes this movie brings to the table. Give it up to Ben Platt and cast, the excellent writer of this film and the emotional music soundtrack that adds layers to the overall experience.

This trailer made me so emotional. I’ve never seen the play before but I feel so connected to this movie already. I’ve been fighting my own battles, and I’ve never really shared how I feel. My mom kind of knows but she doesn’t know how truly bad it is. I don’t think she would even understand I guess this is really my first time saying this publicly. But I’m so tired. Everyday I feel like I’m fighting to survive, and I really don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this.

Why Can't A movie like this inspire more suicide awareness??? I mean this should open the eyes to Everyone..... but sadly the world turns a blind eye to it😢 I've lost good friends to suicide all because of a blind eye😢 but seeing you two beautifully reacting to this trailer says you genuinely care😢

I think this is a show a lot of younger people should watch especially after this past year. I know having a family member that committed suicide, I wish she had seen this. Maybe she could still be here.

I am not a die hard Broadway or Musical Theater fan but i do enjoy it. This though looks amazing and Ben Platt is insanely talented. Also the director of Perks of Being a Wallflower is directing this so I have a ton of faith it will be good. I live in NJ only like an hr from NYC so hopefully i can check it out on Broadway once shows come back.

@@broadwaybyghostlight yes she is :) Funny she has similar tells as I do (shows in the eyes) which is why I can’t play poker with my husband who can read me really well. Great job with keeping an eye on her--when you obviously knew what was coming-and giving the supporting arm without hesitation. You’ve got great chemistry keep it up!

Peoples reaction to this show is HUGELY dependent on their own experiences as an adolescent!! You either TOTALLY relate to Evan or you think he's an absolute jerk for doing what he did!!
