Hey guys! I wanted to try something a little different for this video. Getting over 'what people think of you' can be pretty difficult, so here's a little note to you, and myself, to stop giving a f**k, and just do what you wanna do :)

In all honesty, the car got me to click on the video (I used to have the same car with a manual, leather, and left hand drive (I'm from the US)), but I watched the entire thing. Well, I had to rewind after this prompt to notice it. Maybe there wasn’t too much text after all? I have great difficulty reading text that comes up on a screen because my ability to process text is so slow, so maybe I’m not the best judge. I think you don’t need to care about it either and own what you do, like you said. From an old person who really likes your videos.

Keep it up. I've been a KZfaq editor for a number of large channels since I was 16 (10 years). The best advice I give anyone is "just make the fkin video". Everyone is lost on KZfaq, its the point, part of the journey is figuring out your "what, why, how, when and who". Just do it.

Big thumbs up for the car. I used to have one like this. This is more than just a car. It's a lifestyle, one has to experience at least once in a lifetime. Yes, it spends a lot of time in the garage. That's part of it. I'm new to the channel. Watched the whole video. You have a great, captivating presence. Feels genuine, not forced. The editing is also smooth, you know the techniques and use them well. One thing I've learned out of making videos is that, I love creating them for myself, not to satisfy a wide generic audience. Looking back on them 10-15 years later, feeling glad I did. Keep it up. ;)

Cool car. You're of course totally right about just doing what you want to do. I've been watching channels rise and fall for nearly two decades on this site. From what I can see, the real danger is what happens when it does blow up. Burnout is real. The algorithm is cryptic and uncaring. The policy landscape changes too quickly for many to keep up with. Worst of all is the poor fools who become little more than barometers for views and engagement. They often disintegrate, having lost all sense of purpose.

Hey there! I thought that I would make a comment on your video since not only that I’m a small creator (as of writing this), but I’m also a fellow person with autism too. So I have been wanting to do KZfaq for a very long time. But I’ve always felt unsure and nervous about how do I get myself started with what I do first. It took until late 2021 for me to finally get enough courage to start my KZfaq channel and post videos of me doing my thing and build from there! And you are absolutely right about the fact that sometimes we have to make a video without caring if people aren’t going to watch it. It makes it kinda motivating y’know? As for building an audience it’s something that does take a bit of time, effort and luck. Kinda like that old saying of “Rome wasn’t built in a day”… it’s practically the same with KZfaq, or any other kind of content creation. Great video nonetheless! 👍

Bang on! You are absolutely right, and this applies to basically everything in life. Like when you from nowhere remember a scenario in your life where you made a fool out of yourself, but if you switch it around, how many times can you name stuff like that that other people have done? Basically none and it's the same about your stuff. No one walks around thinking about what you did so just carry on with your life and enjoy yourself. It doesn't have to be about feeling anxious all the time. The more you realize how little people think about you and the less you care what other people think, the happier you'll be!

That's spot-on. It is great that you found the key for being a happy creator :) Besides, on the journey you can build some skills. I can relate to this. On a personal level, I'm running a small channel. I also have an experimental music project for a pretty long time, actually that was my first of such. These are all about exploration and experimenting, for the joy of creation, no suspectations no stress. As a result of this sort of journey, after a while I became a full-time audio and video/film production guy, a touring and songwriting member of other bands that make much bigger numbers and exposure. But without the journey of my tiny experimental project none of these would have been possible. So I have a massive respect for "the small guy". Apart from that, if you start to burn out in big projects, it is always great to return to the small experimental one, to remember why you started the whole thing and what do you enjoy. The roots. So, I have no idea of how long I'll be a member of bigger projects. But I'm sure that the small experimental one will go on.

Ah Charlotte, the irony that the video you care least about is rapidly heading toward becoming your most viewed! You're right though - the more you overthink, the less you experiment, the less likely you'll put out "the one" that ignites the growth of your channel. Unless your livelihood depends on YT revenue - and let's face it most of us are a world away from that possibility - just make what you like in the way that you like doing it. This video - for example - includes some really nice creative shots and techniques - climbing out of the sunroof being my favourite. I found the whole thing refreshing and inspiring. Keep going - and yes, like others, more Bernie please! Stewart

I clicked because I spend too much time watching car videos and I saw an old BMW, but I stayed because you had something interesting to say. If my advice is welcome, it would be to focus on your passion whilst paying attention to what works. As you say, don't try and make the perfect video, I set myself a rough time limit per video and do what I can within that. However, that doesn't mean that's the only way.
@CharlotteElizabeth3000
@CharlotteElizabeth3000 Ай бұрын
Hi!! Thanks for this, setting a rough time limit is actually a really good idea and something I haven't thought of! At the moment I just enjoy the process, but it's a long process per video due to 'but it's not quite right yet' 🤦‍♀️ thanks again for commenting :)

I knew, that I am going to watch the whole video after first few seconds. Its so true to just be yourself and don't be scared away by what other people think. Also I think especially nowadays with internet and lots of different pieces of information around us. It is really difficult to not fall a victim into this wrong mindset and compare the things society considers right with what you do. I myself had this problem for a really long time with success in carrier/studying. I was overthinking often, got scared and ultimately didn't do the thing I considered right. Eventually I started to care a little less, started working in a different field and now I am much happier than before. It makes you feel so much calmer and you can do what you want freely. In terms of creativity, I want to start writing, because I like to write a lot. However I haven't managed to get to it yet, because of similar reasons. Also I am definitely not a bmw guy, but this old classic looks really nice. I hope it lasts long. Older cars just have their own soul.

You’re doing great!! I’ve loved your video style since the beginning, it flows really well and feels so cozy! I guess that may come from the ‘create like nobody’s watching’ mindset, so it definitely works :) (and I totally get the anxiety over sharing something with people you already know…)

I'm here as yet another car enthusiast and also a BMW owner (2008 E92 M3). Cool car (my Dad had one of those) and I agree cars made in the 90's and early 2000's are way cooler and more fun than modern equivalents. Good luck with the channel Charlotte.

Love this video, lowkey spoke to my soul🫶 I've wanted to make videos for 10+ years but always too bothered what people think and thought I had nothing good to offer. I think having a vision and sticking to it is better than taking on board all the crap that can be thrown your way and being too anxious to do anything different

First time watcher and I have to say I love the style of your video! From the cinematography style to the insight into what it’s like to be you to the funny little things (not sure if intentional but the coffee cup through the sunroof and the climbing up type shot made me smile). Oh and a car girl. Oh and a cute face. Keep rocking you. As it’s entirely amazing.

Hey Charlotte, I did not click away and enjoyed your honesty. I am autistic too but was not diagnosed until late in life and then it all become clear why I always wanted things I did to be absolutely perfect 🙄 Cleaning my car, Gardening, Decorating and so on. Overthinking was a burden and then I said “I don’t care” and things just flowed. One of the things I did after buying my first computer was to strip it to bits, just to find out how things work, put it all back together and guess what, it worked just fine. I get the feeling you know where I’m coming from. You have yourself a new subscriber waiting for more content whatever that’s going to be, if you want some advice, stick with your BMW story as most like a video on the trials and tribulations on keeping an old car on the road. With plenty of content too. Good Luck. Kind regards Merlin PS you have super energy, use it ❤

What a fantastic video! Honest, and encapsulates my sentiments exactly. I'd love to try a KZfaq channel. I have a collection of retro cars and often have garage days. My son, and a couple of reasonably successful KZfaqrs I know have said give it a go. A voice inside my head always says, "yeah, but you don't know where to start, and you'd be sh*t at it." Thank you for this video, you've got me thinking about it again.

Sounds like you've taken one important step - not letting perfect be the enemy of good. For all the successes I've had or seen others have most of them started out with a "well let's just try doing it like this and see what happens" approach. It doesn't mean you go into it without planning, but you realize your plan isn't going to be perfect and you tinker and tweak as you go 🙂
