Raiden's strength, speed, range and a sword that can specifically cut through adamantium made this not only believable, but a little one-sided.

I'd highly recommend watching (especially since you just watched this with Raiden) is Solid Snake vs Sam Fisher; which is easily one of the best deathbattles of all time. Unrelated but Dio vs Alucard is also great.

Yeah... Raiden at the end of Metal Gear is a monster. Still... I think it's always questionnable to compare two items from diffrent universe and claim they can do the same things. Misty knight is clearly a D lister of the Marvel universe but still, they find something that kinda match. + Raiden fought someone who's skin seems impossible to cut even with his incredible cyborg power but used "this" blade to do the job. And since they gave him this blade instead of he's original one, it kinda work. Let's face it, Wolvy could lift 2 tons but wouldn't be able to fight a guy who cut at impossible to track speed and lift building size robot. At the end of the day, the verdict is fair.

I remember when this fight was announced. I knew right away Raiden would win. Apart from the fact that heis much faster and stronger than Wolverine the whole point of high frequency blades is that they can cut through anything. Doesn't matter how tough something is, if you weaken the molecular bonds enough it gets sliced.

Metal Gear episodes in Death Battle are always great and Sam Fisher vs Solid Snake is a lot of people's, myself included, favorite episode and I recommend it highly

Even if the blade couldn't cut adamantium Raiden still had a chance to win. Wolverine's healing factor has limits and if overtaxed he'll die like a normal person would. This is especially true when Logan is being written more realistically where healing severe wounds can still take days or even weeks. That's why so many of his enemies also had claws, because getting sliced up and impaled is supposed to be a genuine threat to his life.

I feel that Death Battle knew that they painted Raiden as this unrivaled cyborg swordsman so they put him up against Excalibur from Warframe just to break the public illusion

Man, even to this day, I still occasionally dive in to MGR just because it's a fun game. Smooth 60 FPS, amazing Platinum Games combat, and the most epic dynamic boss soundtrack in gaming history. A real wonderful time, even if you can't quite fully grasp the story because it's Metal Gear Solid.

Raiden deserved to win. Makes sense, if adamantium can be melted to be used intravenously, then its molecules can be manipulated. In essence, raidens HF blade is melting Wolverines bones in a way. 😂

The explanation basically boils down to, "We know we made a pretty awesome extensive battle animation between these two, but in reality, the fight would be Raiden showing up, slicing Wolverine into pieces, and then keeps going while barely registering that Wolverine was ever there." I don't know enough about the two character to agree or disagree with that assessment, but I do know that if you eliminate from the equation the adamantium skeleton, which Raiden's sword supposedly does, then Wolverine is just an all around inferior version of Deadpool in a fight.

Yeah, Wolverine had no chance, you really didn't catch on to the power scaling here when Wolverine can't even bench press a car and Raiden can fling a tank with one arm and not even break a sweat. He didn't even need to break adamantium to win here, slice between the vertebra then stick the blade up under the chin of the detached head and stir 'till that skull is full of nothing but pudding. Without particular plot contrivances Wolvie would not survive.

The game " Metal Gear Rising Revengeance (2012) " still one of the best games with swords till date . Insane gameplay , the metal songs are energizing Most cool looking character after Dante . you will understand raiden only after playing Mgr revengeance or watching the gameplay .

Really enjoyed the reaction. A lot of people felt the same way about Raiden not being able to lose to Wolverine, but Raiden is a very underestimated character. He's the most overpowered character in the MGS series and in Metal Gear Rising he earns his power throughout the game, so much so that the 2nd Death Battle including Raiden had to be scaled up. His second fight is between him and Excalibur from Warframe who is a starfaring demi-god. It really puts into comparison how Raiden trumps Wolverine. I think this is one of the times where Death Battle exaggerates characters to make them sound cooler or have their match-ups seem more realistic. What actually happened was Wolverine's soul got dragged to Hell and he fought his way out by killing demons. One of them CLAIMED to be Satan but this was proven false. Not only that, but he needed help from multiple Ghost Riders and Spider-Man at one point, so it wasn't like he actually fought the Devil. Compare this to Hulk who did indeed fight the One Below All, a figure comparable to Satan, and used a thunderclap move to basically slow him down so he could escape. If the Hulk is running away from someone, you know Wolverine isn't doing anything to him. Raiden's speed is pretty insane. In the 2nd Death Battle, they got his speed down to 11% the speed of light, way beyond even Marvel's most famous speedster Quicksilver. Add in the power that comes from his blade which in the dozens of kilotons of TNT (AKA tens of times stronger than a nuke), and you can see how he could stomp Wolverine. A lot of people might recommend you to watch the Solid Snake Death Battle but I wouldn't suggest doing it. This DB already spoiled some important info from MGS2 that are key to that story's plot, and the Snake DB does even more for the whole series. If you want to go on a Metal Gear journey, hold off on the Death Battle until you've seen at least MGS4. That DB uses a lot of his feats throughout the series and goes deep into his backstory. Due to the complicated release order, things that characters know about their backstories might be false since there are massive conspiracies going on in the prequel games, which happens A LOT in MGS.

I enjoy watching you guys show, all because, I know that I can spoil everything and there are some death battles, that I've seen, but however, I totally forgotten the outcome, but I knew the outcome of this death battle, I pretty much seen, almost every death battle.

One of the fun things I heard about that scene is that the director had invited Hugh Jackson's wife to this set on the day they filmed this scene. She was not even 20 feet in front of him, but in the shadows behind the camera when he came up out of the tank roaring in this iconic scene. Funny thing is, they put the ball in Wolverines court. They highlighted that Raiden could run out of fuel instead dwelling on the massive gap in most of their feats since most of Wolverines fights aren't really won on account of his strength or speed but rather the fact that no matter what you do, you can't put him down for long.

I could go eitherway on this one. Like they noted, a lot hinges on wether or not Raidens HF. Blade can cut through Adamantium and there simply is no good answer for this. Maybe? On the other hand Raiden is definitively fast, strong and precise enough (He is a cyborg ninja after all) to go through the eye socket, but on the other hand he wouldn't necessarily know to do that. Once again, on the other hand he would notice the strong skeleton on wether or not his sword gets stuck on strikes or not, so this would clue him in. It could be argued that if he notices that he cannot cut through Wolverine, or kill him with 1000 cuts, he'd go for the eye and if he can cut through Wolverine, he wouldn't need to. Some notes on MGS and Raiden: If it wasn't obvious from the Mortal Kombat universe, Raiden is "Lightning" in Japanese. Raiden was first introduced in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as a character to attract more female players. His character was designed from feedback of Japanese girls and they seemed to favor this more effeminate, blond, long haired character (Did you notice his high-heels?) that kind of backfired. Konami gaslighted the MGS fans with trailers of MGS2, not showing Raiden at all at any point, so people were expecting to play as Solid Snake, a more typical hyper masculine character. This decision from Konami created a massive rift among MGS fans. Metal Gear Solid 2 is such a divisive title that it's either your favorite, or least favorite title. Almost never is it somewhere in between in peoples lists. After MGS2 they made Raiden into a cyborg and the fans universally accepted him into the roster. As a cyborg, his artificial blood is fully synthetic (And is actually white in colour) and as it is synthetic, he cannot produce his own in his body like humans do with regular blood and obviously he doesn't have the necessary organs to keep it clean like humans do with regular blood. Thus the periodic need for blood change, like oil in a car. The person he said "I don't fear death" to is his long running nemesis Vamp. The funny thing about Vamp is that his name doesn't stem from his vampiric nature, but rather from his personality as he is bi-sexual and vamped a father and daughter as his lovers, well... not really lovers, more like... friends-with-benefits? It's complicated. Raiden also technically earned the codename "Snake" making him the 4th person to ever achieve this codename. Snake is technically the highest ranking codename an agent can earn within the FOX-HOUND organization, however Raiden continues to use his originally designated codename. I'm not that well versed on the Metal Gear: Revengence series, so my information could be lacking, or out of date, but fortunately the Revengence series takes place after the Solid series, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Even if we're just pitting speed and strength it was a mismatch. Wolverine kept to with a speedster moving at the speed of sound but Raiden could move faster than the eye could see which is twice the spec of mach 27. On top of that Wolverine could only pick up 2 tons while Raiden basically carried skyscraper sized weapons and sliced faster than the eye could see with them

Wolverwine is pretty cool. Btw. the 90's X-MEN cartoon still holds up Raiden from Metal Gear Rising from 2013 was my second "Style over Substence" game after Lollypop Chainsaw. This was not a good but a lot of fun and so i am generous ^^ I agree with Bethany: "I respect the research". 🕵‍♀ Heard about Misty Knight Knight, she is pretty cool comes in the Marvel series "Luke Cage" from 2018. She herself was first brought to life in the comics in 1975. But when I heard that Raiden's sword generates strong vibrations, I knew that he will win. This is also the only way to edit titanium, because the hardness can kan close to not affect, let alone cut. But vibration makes metal unstable. Raiden could have kneaded Woverine into a dumpling, theoretically. But..he has way more character then Raiden. Still-like-the-first-two-X-Men-Movies (I know there are kinda stupid. But i was 14, bite me 😆)

Should really delve into the Metal Gear universe, definitely something worth a long term look at, plenty of action and soap opera drama for the two of you.

Funnily enough, the fact that -Jetstream Sam- Raiden's sword could cut through adamantium was overkill, since Raiden is more than precise enough with a sword to cut between Wolverine's vertebrae, making his adamantium skeleton and healing factor a non-issue.

TBF, Wolverine's neck isn't completely covered in Adamantium. Only his bones are. So whilst he may have spinal bones covered in it, the neck tissue and fibre in between is easily sliceable, even without a vibrating weapon. And if the description of both Antarctic Vibranium, and a high frequency blade is that they BOTH destabilise molecular bonds, and the Antarctic Vibranium even affects adamantium, meaning a weapon that operates similarly and has the same outcome and effect, should have no trouble dealing with what its counterpart could beat.

Great video, but here is the reason why Raiden won. In a final boss fight in metal Gear you fight Armstrong that is using nanomachines inside his body to regenerate any wound just like adamantium doeas and Raiden beat him so Wolverine is logically beaten by Raiden because of his advanced cyborg senses. And answear to your question about changing blood cells is that when Patriots captured Raiden not only did they experimented on his body but they butchered his body parts and skin and replaced it with cybernetic body, only his brain is his own, everything else is artificial so in order for his brain to function it needs blood. Also because he doesn't have organism blood isn't getting cleaned automaticlly but needs to be replaced with fresh one. I hope you check Metal gear Rising Revengeance to fall in love with Raiden character

I could see this being a good fight but even if it can cut the wolverines toughest metal.. Wolverine still has a healing Factor so he can heal from whatever damage he put on against him so I doubt him killing Wolverine would be that easy..

Here's the thing about death battle, there's going to be, one out of two types of winners, there's lots of variance of winners, but I'm sticking with two, you have your veterans, with different variations of veterans and you have your wild card and different variance of them too, sometimes, the veteran wins, the people that's been doing this all day everyday, for years and then you have your wild card, you're wild card characters are, who can pull a rabbit out of their hat and if they're both wild cards, then it's going to be, who can pull a rabbit out of their hats the fastest, but as for the veterans, then it boils down to, who has the most leveled head or who's the strongest or the smartest.

The one thing I hate about this episode is that they say that wolverine can regen from a drop of blood but then kill him when his head gets cut off that seems inconsistent

(pre-battle) Personally like the "bad" wolverine movie. I think the only real bad part about it is the deadpool ending, which still got us the eventual Deadpool movies.
