Also the people who captured him were originally after Death and had the means to trap members of the Endless. Death couldn't risk getting trapped and having people never die so they had to stay away, even if it meant having to leave Dream trapped. I don't remember if this was just a theory or confirmed by the comics but it makes a lot of sense to me

I will say this. If I was dream I would be pissed at my siblings. Over a hundred years missing and no effort, none, to look for him. She knew that they were trying to imprison her, death, and she did nothing. I guess they don't love each other. Because when you love someone you don't give up.
