An Idaho jury on Saturday sentenced to death the so-called ‘doomsday’ cult leader Chad Daybell, who was convicted of conspiring with his wife Lori Vallow Daybell to murder his first wife and Vallow Daybell’s two children. The jury’s decision came after family members of the victims read emotional impact statements in court on Friday. NBC News’ Dana Griffin has more.

Actually that makes it worse for the convict. It also makes it more than fair. We should always be quick to do good and slow to punish.

All the reliable sources on the internet says it takes so long because of the appeals process I think the consensus is so I don't blame you for your comment. It actually takes so long as a deterrent, prolonged suffering makes people think twice. I don't know why they hide this.

Life in prison is a far worse punishment than the death penalty. The death penalty is the easy way out.

@@mischa6688 Yeah, that and she clearly had mental issues, although she wasn't allowed to use her mental diagnosis as an excuse in court. In her mind, she truly believes what she did was right, which is why she got life without parole, but ultimately her case was more complicated because she's not capable of feeling remorse. Her lawyers argued that due to the media saturation, her mental state at the time, and the prosecution turning in evidence late not giving her lawyers enough time to go through it the death penalty should not be on the table.

Yes, here comes the appeal process. Years and years and years, even decades. A man on death row are just code words for life in prison. What's the point of death penalty if it goes through such a lengthy process of appeals? In other countries when you're sentenced to death, guess what? You're sentenced to DEATH. No appeal system BS.
