Great video. NPS hates convoys probably has rules elsewhere. The upper end of Titus is pretty. The canyon cool. Once out climb up on ridge where you exit. Worth the experience. More fun with other vehicles. Death Valley is huge. There is a reason roof racks cost $700. They are engineered to take the weight.

it's a good trail! I highly recommend it. Afterwards, you can drive 25 miles North to the Ubehebe crater, and from there you can head west to visit the racetrack playa / Hunter Mountain or you can drive north to go to the Eureka Dunes. I don't recommend the racetrack, the road is harshly wash boarded and the racetrack was kinda lame :P. I hear hunter mountain is nice. The Eureka dunes is worth a visit, especially if you're a hiker.

Jon, nice video. We ran Titus Canyon earlier that same day before continuing to the Racetrack. I also know that group that had the RTT troubles. All the hidden screws came loose and the tent actually slid forward when they came to a stop. No permanent damage and the RTT is way more secure now…

Thanks Russell! We saw a group of around 5 full size rigs that started the trail just before the group led by the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Glad they got it sorted out, and that's very fortunate there was no damage! As mentioned in the video, it's good to have alot of friends to remedy a mishap like that. I'm looking to get an aluminum clamshell just like the one that came off, and when I eventually do, I'm going to make sure those screws are tight! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment.

when will you be doing black bear pass? I would like to see how the passport handles that trail.
@JonDZ_Adventuring
@JonDZ_Adventuring 2 жыл бұрын
We drove up Imogene Pass from the Ouray side then down into Telluride. I think Black bear pass would be more of a test of line choice rather than vehicle capability. One mistake, and it can mean a roll over or death 💀, that’s why I chose not to do it 😇. I’ll eventually edit the videos for imogene pass, but you can check out channels: Nolo Designs, Honda Pilot Overland, and Borderline Explorer for videos of our trip. Also, the channel Colorado Mall Crawlers has an excellent trail walk through or black bear pass. They take a Cherokee Trailhawk down.

I have a lifted Jeep XJ and have lead trips over the Rubicon trail, but if I'm on a road trip in my Prius, spot an interesting trail, and the 4wd trail guide says high clearance 4wd with expert driver, I just go anyway. They can actually crawl. If carefully driven they can go a lot of places. They sell lift kits and skid plates for them , enabling one to install larger tires. And besides, Titus Canyon is a very easy dirt road..
