best looking Death Wing ive seen by far! Usually the bone colour looks too cartoony and a bit sickly, these just look awesome, full of character. These are some gorgeous models my man!!

A Deathwing Knight ended up being GW's Free Miniature of the Month of April 2024! Looking for ways to paint the one I picked up led me to this video. :) I think the shade of green you picked might be my favorite, and the execution is just grand.

Sorry again mate, since im doing a list for my own personal stuff for the shoulder pads, ill tint the normal 3rd -7th company seargents with the codex compliant colors, im trying to come with a colour for normal Deathwing non command veterans, and this looks perfect. Leaving the Scale 75 bronze for those in command like Azrael, etc. What colours you mixed specifically for the Shoulders, it goes so well for normal Veterans. I Cant really tell if it was Decayed Metal - Scale 75 or Runlord Brass (the video says the metallics are with scale 75, but i see different some metallics, so i dont know specifically the shoulders what colour), and do you have a recommendation for an extremely similar tone but a bit more "redish" for metallic bronze like shoulders ? So Decayed metal with a little more red ? Update, just got some Pro Acryl Copper to test it out, So Copper for non command, Bronze for command Deathwings :)

Thanks for showing us one that's all brush and acrylics! Big help to those of us just starting out. Any recommendations for some darker shades of metallic paint? It's hard to keep things grimdark if your marine looks like he was hit by an orbital bombardment of glitter bombs.

I use a lot of exhaust manifold or gunmetal by vallejo mental coulor series. Or lead belcher. I always go over with rattling grime contrast too. Hope that helps thanks

@@TheFeralPainter Sure does. Thanks! I tried to cheap out a bit on metallics and well you get what you pay for. A wash or heavy glaze of dark paint didn't help much either. I'll check those out.

Use either a 50/50 mix and build up between the laters. Or thin more with water and add more layers. Or alternatively can use glazes to blend. Thanks again 👌🏻👌🏻

I got the impression you went for full citadel + brush work here to make a more accessible video. Would it be fine to do an umber oil wash instead of the earth shade for the pinwash? Similarly, feels like could do a thinned down sepia ink through the airbrush for the area shading before the wraithbone/bonewhite highlight? Love these and agree that the saturated green used by GW and every DA tutorial out there is ehh.

This looks great, but I'm finding my attempts look rather splotchy. Perhaps I need more layers of the last few colors?

That could be the case. My advice would be try one or some Of the following: 1. Thin ur paints and apply multiple layers of it. 2. Between colours, maybe mix them 50/50 for one of the layers between each. This was will help blend and smooth without a massive jump in colour. 3. Use glazes to blend also Maybe try a few practice pieces trying out each of these points or use multiple points to achieve desired results Hope that helps cheers.

Base. Lemme give you some advice thow. Don’t get too bogged down with specific brands and exact colours that myself or others use. One: people think it makes them a better painter using the same as what they use. Two: all paints are different and some work better for others depending on dilution with water etc. Three: finding similar colours or trying ones similar can help you create unique colours or even mix your own up. I always try encouraging people to go out and use there own colors they might already have. Example would be if im painting a red cape ill say “use a dark red for base and a light red for highlights” This way it encourages you the painter to seek your own that u like. There are 1000s ov different dark reds out there. So its up to you to be creative and experimental. My goal with painting is to make the user a better painter by teaching techniques, as using a certain colour don’t make it look better. Its all in the way u apply or use lighting that will make things look better. So try not to get bogged down with being in the colour police. As url learn more from either using your own paints u might have or finding similar. Hope that helps and in future take these tips in mind before spending unnecessary money on same colours as i use.

I'm not much of a painter and really I like this game for the tabletop aspect the most. Not really interested in being the best of painters, just copy/paste a model I like and then PLAY. I know you want us to be better painters. But understand some of us are just not much into it, and never will... I enjoy doing copy/paste, doing a decent enough work of it, and then PLAY ;). And hopefully competitive. Hope you understand. And if you don't want questions asked, just show em a tiny bit 😆
