The clapping for Tonali was obviously NOT in any way a "congratulatory" standing ovation, it was a showing of support moving forward from the fans. He already knows he's f*cked up and that he owes it to the fans when he returns to action. It makes no sense to hold a grudge. We all move on together and the showing of support can only have a positive effect on Tonali's mindset and commitment to Newcastle, which we hope translates into performances on the pitch in future.

Maybe the difference between Toney and Tonali is that Toney wasn't snitched on and didn't openingly admit to know there was anything wrong with his conduct (whether he was lying or not), if you admit to guilt it shows intention and Toney openly came out saying he thought he was doing nothing wrong and doesn't have an addiction. Tonali admitted guilt and stated he has an addiction so it pretty open and shut from there, the process moves a lot faster and the procedures are still considered fair

Tonali got an 18 month ban. Its just 8 months are suspended if he does gambling rehab work in Italy. Also Tonali has agreed to testify and provide evidence to the prosecutor aswell.

The ban was issued by the Italian FA compared to the English FA issuing Toney’s ban. That’s why there’s a bit of a difference.

I don't know how much can you try to justify what players are doing and somehow keep saying "oh it was not corruption" ? it doesn't matter , everyone knows what betting on other football match can lead to , you are a friend with other footballers in other clubs , you can have insides on what is going on before the game even if you are not the one playing it , it's a deep whole and the easiest way is to ban it , he is *professional*!!! footballer and he know what he signed for and he is getting paid MILLIONS , how can you even question this anymore ? And advertising betting is not a problem , it's literally one of the reasons many of them are getting paid that huge amount of money they are getting now , you can still even bet on other sports outside of football , if that's hard for you to do then you don't even deserve your professional contract in the first place ...
