Thank you, Debbie. Although I have sewn for a while your ‘thread catcher’ tip will be very useful. I have made your small heart cushion with a zipped section for a lavender pouch this week for someone in hospital and a couple of people have asked where I got the idea. “Watch Debbie Shore’s tutorials!” 😁 They are informative and easy to follow. Special shout out to your ‘Camera Guy’ because the close ups are excellent on the videos. Gill Iredale

I think I heard you recommend the square patch before. So I use one most of the time now. Not just a thread catcher but it saves an enormous amount of thread in the long run too. I get far less thread waste now. So thanks for that very hot tip. 😉

I measure many times and have all the gadgets (rotary cutter, mat, fabric scissors) but I still miss getting it right! 30 mins to make but 3 hours trying to cut the pieces accurately! Any tips or is it just practice!?!?!Love Bob....

Hi Debbie & Bobbin. My main problem is bobbin, it gets knotted nearly every time, I take it out and turn it round but that doesn't always cure it.... I swear it has a mind of it's own as it works perfectly then starts to knot and also top thread breaks a lot too. So maddening when I want to get on. I spend most of my sewing time re threading than actual sewing. Ps pre ordered your new book out June and popped sewing for Baby in my basket :) so exciting

Oh Debbie, these tips are excellent whether you're a novice or been sewing for years! I'll tell you, i learn something new every time i watch one of your videos. A while back I started placing my fabic under the needle taking a few stiches back then proceding forward. I have found when i cut my threads they get lost in the seam. If i start on the edge and backstich, i find after cutting the threads im left with " wiskers" on the end of my project that are difficult to cut really close. And the machine doesn't gobble the fabric as you notrd. Love the rubberband idea! Ha. I do have a question about the magnetic seam guide. Will that interfere with the new computerized machines that are out now? Thanks for all you're videos. You're the best, girl!!
@debbieshore
@debbieshore 6 жыл бұрын
It shouldn't interfere, the magnet is quite a way from the mechanism of the machine and is quite weak too, glad you like the tips!

Sometimes when I use interfacing or fusible fleece it looks like there are little dimples all over the fabric. Do you have a solution for this?
@debbieshore
@debbieshore 6 жыл бұрын
44Some fusible fleece works best with steam, some without, try steaming and stretching the fabric as you iron. Interfacing crinkles less when you iron the interfacing instead of the fabric, again, push the fabric flat. Hope that works!

In some of Debbie ' earlier videos she shows you how to hand tack a zipper in by hand (it's worth it and quicker than one might expect) and go back with a zipper foot and sew it in. I found this very useful. BTW Debbie Shore, thank you! It's because of you that I got over my "fear" of sewing in zippers and now have clean, lovely results every single time.☺

I see you used a magnetic guide with a computerised machine. Has this been OK? I read that you shouldn't use a magnet with a computerised machine and I checked with my Brother supplier and they also said not to. That's quite disappointing as it's an easy cheap method to help me with straight stitching. I have a 1/4" foot which is great and wish I could get an 1/8" as I find a very narrow hem difficult to keep straight. Thanks
@debbieshore
@debbieshore 6 жыл бұрын
A lot of 1/4" feet have an 1/8" mark so maybe shop around for a new foot, and manufacturers differ with their opinions of the magnetic guides, they are used on the opposite side of the machine to the computer board, but if there's a concern use the elastic band method!
