In fact Haiti is not poor, Haiti is poorly managed and its state is held captive by the predators in the atlantic.

I can recall studying the Louisiana Purchase just a few times in US public school, but never on a high level (I took IB), and never in the context of global ramifications of the event. And this could be an issue with my locale, as I graduated grade school in Alabama.
