And here's our Seminar Playlist. • Debt Freedom/Finance
I'm so sorry. The forms are no longer available. The "When Will I Be Debt Free?" worksheet is just a rough estimate of your debt-freedom date. But you will have a specific date for YOU that will be calculated on the "Calculating Your Payoff Priority" worksheet, which also is no longer available, unfortunately. But you can just pause the video at 26:32 to see the column headings and then create your own page on a piece of paper.

This definitely works. My husband (now passed) and I did this in 2003 when the kids left home and we found ourselves in crazy debt. We bought a singlewide very cheap and fixed it up and we went to work on debt. By 2008 we had paid off the property and 30K CC debt and car. He had a good govt. job but we lived up to our means too long. We were able to buy a retirement home for cash and came into retirement with no debt. If we hadn't done that, with him passing just after retirement, I may be looking at living in my car. I am so thankful the Lord led us this way! So glad you are doing this Bill :)

@@alvaradacosta293 No we sure didn't go back to any debt and that was the most important part. We continued to save and live modestly. Our retirement home is very modest also. We used to live much larger and realized keeping up with the world was for the birds. It took us a while to listen but the Lord will always lead us to what is best for us down the road.

I've always been afraid of being in debt, owned, enslaved. My grandparents left their places to the family and dad left his place to me and my brother. Brother didn't want it so I kept taxes paid. He died and now I'm in full control. The bible says to know well the condition of your stuff and pay good attention to it. To know is the key

A lot of my friends are having spouses that die, and the cost of a funeral is unbelievable. My dad died in September, and even with us having the funeral in a church instead of the funeral home, and buying the casket online, the cost was astronomical. You could buy a new car for that amount. It was shocking. My mom is almost 80 and told me she doesn't think she'll have to go back to work. I cannot imagine her going back to work, and it kills me that she even had to consider something like that. My word. And they've always managed their money amazingly well. I think they've been debt free for about 30 years. Here's the thing: the funeral has to be paid BEFORE they will let you bury the body. Make sure everyone has life insurance, or at least 20K in the bank for the funeral. And I'm not joking either. And then, do you have living expenses in the bank in cash to keep you afloat? Even if you're debt free, you still need money to live. It's shocking.
@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree Жыл бұрын
Yes, life insurance is a must. And yes, even debt free, you still need money to live. But you can live on much LESS money when you are debt free because you're not also burdened down with mortgage/rent payments, car payments, credit card payments, etc. etc.

Bill, I think you and Elizabeth are awesome! I do want to suggest that if a person doesn’t have an emergency fund (the customary recommendation from financial advisors is 3 to 6 months worth of monthly expenses, though in these times I’d lean to the larger amount), that it would be a good idea to put part of the extra 10% towards establishing that emergency fund simultaneous to paying off debt. I know this would slow down the debt payoff, but emergencies happen. Maybe at least do this until a month or 2 of expenses worth is put aside would be a good balance. There are some circumstances that arise that just being out of debt and no emergency savings would still not go well. God bless you all!
@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree 3 жыл бұрын
No. That’s traditional thinking, and it slows things WAY down. Do it my way and you will have emergency funds available but get out of debt much faster and be worth twice as much in the long run. I will be addressing this in episodes to come. 😎

I was thinking the exact same thing!! Why is this not taught in school before kids get out on their own and get swamped in so much debt they can’t sleep at night and forget about the current generation ever being able to own their own homes with the high prices of housing how could an average university student with student loans making a decent wage ever see the light at the end of the tunnel? I think understanding debt and compound interest is the most important part and when we aren’t taught it in school we end up learning it the hard way through living it. I believe these principles should be taught from primary grades all the way up through university because it really has nothing to do with the intelligence of a person whether they get in to deep debt or not. It has to do with the person that is paying attention to their debt! If you aren’t paying attention to it you can be darn sure the credit card companies and banks are paying attention to it for you and then trying to entice you to take on even more debt because you are making loads of money and you can afford to. But to what end? For some reason the majority of us fail to ask that question, we just agree with what we are being told because these people are the experts and they are trying to help us with our money right? Wrong!! They are trying to pad their bottom line and increase their bonus cheque at the end of the year regardless of what they tell you they are doing. You can be certain that’s where their focus is. Thank you so much for this seminar I’m looking forward to watching the rest and using the principles that you are teaching.🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦

at 22:00 the fine print says "this assumes ... 10% return on savings during investment period" but I don't know anyone making that kind of return on investment. Right now, savings is making less than 1% and if you don't meet the minimum, you have a monthly maintenance fee, so you're actually losing dollars. It's very sad. I don't know what the answer is. When my dad and mother made their money off of their investments, they were getting 12%, but that was around 1998, or 2000, right around that time. I really want to become like the two of you. I live pretty frugally, but I'm glad that I've finally learned my lesson. Like you, I had something devastating happen to me (an illness) that totally changed my income and left me with a lot of debt. It's been traumatic.

This debt-elimination plans assumes that you have the same income that you had when you acquired the debt in the first place. If your income has decreased, it definitely makes it much more difficult. But it is still usually possible. It'll just take longer. There is no way that you will ever get a 10% return on savings. Savings in the bank is not an investment! I'm not an investment specialist, but there are many ways that money can still earn 10%, even in today's economy.

I bought my first house in 2009 in my mid-50s. What was I thinking? But who knew what the future was going to bring. Honestly, I lived in an upper flat with radiators and should have stayed there and put up with it. The heating costs were out of this world. But I WAS saving money. If I stuck it out, I'd have a lot of money to buy a very nice home when I retire. I am already 65 and looking to retire in 2022, but will have to work part time. I cannot keep this house on my social security and am not going to use up my investments to live day to day. Keeping options open, maybe I can buy some land up north and buy a tiny home or build a small cabin. Am getting rid of things now.

Then you roll the entire amount of the one you paid off including the margin rollup to the next one.? is this correct? Thank you!

Are you talking US dollars? 34,000 is not far above poverty line! Americans can easily spend 15,000-20,000 per year just for rent or mortgage. Some places, like New York or San Francisco can cost $3,000 per month just to rent a small 2 bedroom apartment! That’s 36,000 per year JUST for housing!

Unfortunately, if your marriage partner does not want to establish this plan, you can be out of luck and in very bad financial condition. It is a lot worse if this is the situation, and then if the person is having health problems due to unwise health choices this can destroy any security you might be working towards. If divorce is no option things get scary pretty fast. I mean, suppose either you or your wife have a major health crisis and need 24 hour care this can destroy your security. How do you factor that in?
@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree 3 жыл бұрын
Yup, both spouses have to be on board in order to make this work. Unfortunately, there is no way to factor in major catastrophes like health issues, especially at the beginning. And sometimes bankruptcy is the only recourse. But as you get closer to debt freedom, and especially after you are debt free, you will have more resources available to you to help deal is catastrophic issues.
@whyme7996
