I lost my church membership because of breaking my covenants from a struggle with sexual addiction (adultery). I still had and have a testimony of Jesus Christ and his restored church. I made the decision to accept responsibility for my choices and to go through a very painful, humbling process of repentance and reconciliation. I was eventually re-baptized and I look forward to having my priesthood blessings restored. I chose to humble myself and not blame the church for my weaknesses. I am so grateful for Jesus Christ and for forgiveness. It saddens me to see someone throw away such rich blessings and to mock that which is good. Yes, God asks us to live righteous lives in a fallen world...and it's not always easy, but it's worth it.

I am a muslim but I cannot stand people who do not understand their own beliefs and spread falsehood and lies. Even if I am not mormon, I want to go to a person who understands the doctrine. Not just someone who says I am an ex believer, here is my experience. A lot of what people say to "debunk" a belief all comes from how they feel and what they want to change about the religion.

As a latter-day Saint in Utah, I have been to tons of LDS funerals, including people who I was sad to see die. The funerals are often very happy places because 1. We believe we'll see them very soon and 2. It's a well-attended family reunion. Every one of your family and close friends makes an effort to come. So yes, we miss the person who died, but also we are happy to see all the loved ones. It reminds us of what we expect heaven to be like.

I’m a Muslim, and while there are so many things different about our faiths, there are many common. I started watching her channel out of curiosity but now I feel like it’s downright disrespectful. I’m not a Mormon but as someone who believes in God and Jesus Christ, i find her videos incredibly disrespectful. It’s almost as if she is trying so hard to prove that “has made it”. What started off as an informative channel is now just blasphemous and hateful towards all religions that believe in God and Jesus

I love listening to all of you. We converted in 2019. My son (28) has really been struggling honestly because when we joined girls weren’t interested in him because he was a newish convert and he might change his mind and because he had tattoos that were viable in a tshirt. Now the tattoos are still an issue. He has really struggled and I have just kept telling him that his eternal companion isn’t ready for him yet. Gods time is the best time. But he is lonely. There aren’t guys in our ward his age who aren’t married and the singles ward is all 18 years old. Soooo he feels like he’s in limbo. I just pray for him every day.

And for what it's worth, I didn't run straight home and take out the 2nd pair of earrings. I was a teenager and it bugged me. I fought it for a couple of weeks, then decided I'd go with obedience in the meantime and pray for a confirmation. And honestly, it wasn't until I was well into my 20s before I was like "I know he's a prophet and I'm glad I followed". And honestly today, at 40, seeing everyone getting all tatted up and pierced everywhere, and gauges and such, I can really see the value in setting ourselves apart from the world in that way, and that perhaps that's what President Hinckley saw that I couldn't at 15.

When I was in the Army, I was one of the few soldiers who did NOT have tattoos. When we would go shirtless the reactions were interesting. Sometimes guys would mention that I didnt have any, and often it seemed by their expression that they were a little disappointed in the markings they had all over their body. Some guys were completely plastered with them. I think many of them thought it was cool that I never did any.

I've seen pictures from funerals across all religions with people smiling because SMILING IN PICTURES IS A SOCITAL NORM!

If a person leaves the church and turns around and goes fanatic against it, Ive found these folks havnt repented, they are in a "justification" period. I left the church for 36 yrs. I didnt attack the church. I knew the church was and is true. I left because i felt guilt for not living the word of wisdom. Well satan had me all turned around but PRIDE kept me . Heavenly Father knows my heart and I came back. Iam 64yr.

I learned form a Jewish rabbi that tattooing and piercings are a sign of paganism and the worship of Baal. He pointed out that the further a society moves away from God, the more they begin to mark their bodies. We even see this behavior in The Book of Mormon, so it’s not at all surprising our church would advise against them. Many God worshiping religions do. Our society is highly involved in Baal worship. The vast majority of people have no idea that is what they are doing because we are so far removed from the historical context, but they are worshipping him nonetheless. The signs, practices, and markings are all here in our society. Biblically it was the prophets or priests of Baal that Elijah destroyed. I highly doubt anyone gets a tattoo or piercing and makes the connection, but they are still taking on the marking.

They can leave the church, but they can’t leave it alone.

Her views on how the woman in the church, how they act and talk are so far removed from reality. Even my girls who are not active now never looked and acted like she portrays. And guess what they arent out bashing the church. Move on girl.

I've been to mostly LDS funerals, I have been LDS my whole life. I've been to funerals of young and old and even babies. The Spirit is strong at LDS funerals. There is the LOVE OF GOD so strong and a feeling of hope and bittersweet joy. I love how the death of a person can bring long lost family together. I've connected with cousins I hadn't seen in 20 years and now have that extra support in my life. When I have gone to funerals or "celebrations of life" that are not specifically LDS, there is just something incredibly significant missing from them. All the black and the darkness and depressing expressions... I didn't leave them uplifted the way I have at LDS funerals.

It is instructive that the X's focus on the relatively unimportant peripheral aspects of church rather than the basic principles and ordinances of the gospel. It isn't an easy sell to be against love and joy and redemption and progress.

I love that point about the Word of Wisdom in regard to the weakest among us.

The whole one piercing thing was Pres. Hinckley in general women's meeting. That said, having multiple piercings or tattoos aren't going to keep anyone from having a valid temple recommend, not when the "rule" was first said and not now.

I remember a story from the Ensign, about 20 years ago: it concerned a young LDS man who was working in Saudi Arabia. He developed a friendship with a family and started informally teaching them. The kids were way ahead of the parents, and when the Word of Wisdom came up, the kids were going right along with the teaching....it was going GREAT! And then the Dad decided to test this young man's depth of teaching and resolve. The family had a silver and crystal set of cups and a small pitcher which contained some special alcoholic drink, that was specific to one of their beliefs. The Dad poured a small amount and offered it to the young man... and the young man took it and drank. The wonderful Spirit which had been there, evaporated immediately and the Dad ordered the young man out of the house, and to never come back. All that goodwill was just... gone. Who knows where the Church would be on the Arabian Peninsula, if the young man had stuck to his claims, and politely refused? One can only wonder.

My wife converted in her 20s after a catholic upbringing. I ask her if she was angry at her family for raising her catholic or was mad at the catholic church. Of course her answer is no, it all helped to bring her along the path. My sister who is a bitter anti-mormon will make little barbs about the church to everyone about the church but not to my wife.

My dad was catholic (and Episcopalian). He simply says “I used to be…” or “I was ….. when I was a kid…” nothing else nothing more.

There is zero chat AI spit out those “more exmo” images. I spend countless hours creating images with AI and that is just not how it works. It is obvious to me that she very specifically told the program just what to add to the images. Completely misleading.

I love the way y’all address these things. The clip with the alcohol made me really sad. I lost my virginity at 19 to my boyfriend I’d been with for 5 years at the time. It really upset my family and it caused a lot of tension, but my parents through their anger still loved me. That boy is now my husband and we are sealed. Mistakes are not the end.

I don't think it's the least bit petty, Megan... I see it as a defense against slander and also a reminder that most of us don't talk/think/feel that way. When people see these exmo/promo videos, they might get the impression that that's all true. You guys are offering the opposite voice (and speaking with humor to those of us in the faith who enjoy your input and your collective strength).

The Church has many rules, guidelines, and expectations but not all of them are given the same weight. Mrs Grenfell knows this but does not care. She knows that nobody in the church has ever has received church discipline for having too many piercings or getting a tattoo. In my opinion, having a tattoo is punishment enough. A person spent a lot of money getting something on their body that they have live with for the rest of their life. Sure it might look good in the moment but as they age, the tattoo starts looking worse and worse and they may get bored of the dumb design that is on their body.

I feel like it is that way about most everything related to the church. I watch a channel of an orthodox Jewish woman. She is lovely! In her church, they can't show their collar bones, or their hair, or their legs. They even swim in long bathing dresses. All the people watching comment how lovely her culture is and her values are. (Rightly so) But, if this were a latter-day saint lady talking about the rules around modesty in HER culture and church, there would be relentless mocking in the comments.

I think that debunking could be rewritten as being a witness for the truth and for Christ. One does not have to attack her, but one present truth as a disciple of Christ. When one tactfully and peacefully corrects another’s misinformation… the spirit has a chance to confirm truth. I really do not know her. But she appeared on my feed and she was showing the Temple garment, the Temple clothing and her homemade veil and explaining to an audience maybe not prepared with the spirit. It hurt my heart. It seemed like mockery. The comments were every bit as demeaning and I don’t know how we as Church and people combat that. We don’t want to be contentious (Satan’s plan) and yet videos like these lead others away from the Lord or off the path.😢

It's good to see sisters not tolerating the mistruths of a person who couldn't repent and is now a paid puppet for ex-members continued justification of their own weaknesses. How amazing people who leave the church do not do so because they don't believe the teachings, they do it because they realize they can't follow the commandments of God. When talking about shame and guilt in the church, one of the best ways I ever had it taught was by my high school seminary teacher. He said, "Guilt is a Gift, but Shame is a Snake." Alot of times, people confuse the two or see them as interchangeable. Guilt is the knowledge that you've done something wrong and want to do better. Guilt is the spark that allows Christ to make our weaknesses strong. Shame on the other hand, is the judgement we receive from others or from a precieved culture when we do something different from what others see as right. This kind of emotion is only negative and seeks to tear things down. Guilt motivates while Shame destroys. I really wish more people in the gospel and even in Christianity understood this difference. It completely changed my perspective and helped me understand my divine potential and the way Christ truly seeks to save us in every possible way. 21:50

So tagging the company would be like tagging the friends who made one final bouquet for the person they love and worked for. We tag our friends when they show up in our feed, and often people will tag a relevant business even if they're not affiliated with it.

There are definitely many church families that function on fear of what everyone else will think of them. They teach their children to function on fear and to keep the commandments in fear of what what church people will say about them if they don't. This is not what the church teaches but are the traditions of the fathers passed down.

Thank you Megan (and all of you wonderful ladies) for publicly sharing your life journeys and experiences. I was born in Salt Lake City into a family filled with early church member ancestors. The culture I grew up in was spiritually strong but often showed a narrow understanding of people outside of our daily experiences. I have seen (and experienced) how Church culture can sometimes struggle with being inclusive. (Which is really sad because that is what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about!) It is SO important, especially now that the Church is more wordwide, to normalize, as you said, "all shapes and sizes" into our culture. This is one reason I love the Church because true disciples of Christ gravitate toward a willingness to learn about the good in others, and learn from the good in others, no matter what their stories are. Pointing out the lies and negative influences online by debunking is important, but your willingness to sit in that chair and publicly tell your story and you testimony, and share the happiness that has come along with your life decisions is much needed and very powerful! Also, (I think it was Tikla) your story about the Bishop saying, "That's it! We're all going to the tatoo parlor!" made me so happy! We need to have that kind of love for each other. My life experiences have made me want to be an activist for inclusivity in Church culture and you Women of Ward Radio are my role models! ❤

I was on a holiday in Samoa with some friends. We all got sick. I had a vision a thin Samoan woman who had a similar spiritual feeling as christ. I got healed. I was the only one that did, and it was instant. Im all for good experiences. But sadly, more people outside the church believe than inside. I normally dont mention spiritual experiences with active members because of thier attitudes.
