Intro: voice samples] One by one the angels fell God had sent a horrible plague of deaths Why do you think that God would do a thing like that? Deca presents a new world of sound [Verse 1: Deca] Back chasing dreams here we go again Run 'em down with bloodhounds and dobermans I'm at the mercy of the blowin' wind It's all open ended like Everything in life 'till your soul ascends From madmartigen To sad harlequin To black hearted kin Flashbacks bar to Kim's Cardinal sins hypodermics in the garbage bin Marked men follow when the saints go marching in Dreams crack then fade into memory My Pops said that we share the same brain chemistry That's where I got my appetite for self destruction I need balance I need help adjusting But one day I'll awaken in a state of grace Quit making the same mistake Of abating the pains and aches Maintain a creative space Get loose with the papermate I've been waiting for day to break The future is taking shape Hook: voice samples] Remember that language is power I will, I will. I'll remember that Lone steppenwolf offer no apologies Until their brains snap open [Chorus: Deca & voice samples] God said We'd be in trouble if we ate that fruit Nameless soldier Trying to get over No peace Show teeth hold a grudge Find another soul to judge No peace only blood Nameless soldier Exile driven out Sinner drifting on a cloud Wild child in a crowd No peace No peace only blood Don't sleep show me love Only blood [Verse 2: Deca] I chased dragons now I'm chasing the dream They're both mythic One's a ball and chain the other's the soul's image Restrained manacle child so afraid Like somebody's trying to tear the wings out of my shoulder blades The whole wide world's obsessed with the Faust legend You gotta go through hell to get to heaven Me I know the beast well He's hiding in the flowers and the details Enjoys long walks on the beach and collecting seashells Recording live from the belly of the beached whale East of eden where the fallen angels and the meek dwell Where love's the color of blood an pure devotion And cascades pools on the ground and forms an ocean Deca the bard the penman, deadpan Solitary dreamer, watch the vision expand There's no time for dogma an genuflection The future is taking shape Lessons in free expression Hook: voice samples] Remember that language is power I will, I will. I'll remember that Where do we come from, who are we And where are we going Eternal questions never answered [Chorus: Deca & voice samples] God said We'd be in trouble if we ate that fruit Nameless soldier Trying to get over No peace Show teeth hold a grudge Find another soul to judge No peace only blood Nameless soldier Exile driven out Center drifting on a cloud Wild child in a crowd No peace No peace only blood Don't sleep show me love Only blood

Question to those to are somewhat educated in literature: do you think Deca is explicitly referring to "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Gilman? About halfway through the song he talks about the beast he "knows well" (possibly talking about his flawed inner self) and how it hides "behind the flowers and the details". I just feel like there's no way he isn't referring to this masterpiece of a short story (from over 120 years ago no less) since they both make a point about how oppressed and depressed the protagonists are in their respective stories. Probably won't get a response but figured I would give it a shot
@mdela107 жыл бұрын
also want to add that it wouldn't be too far of a stretch knowing how this guy has such a solid mastery of the English language. guys dope af
@otis5d6 жыл бұрын
What about the lyrics you said is a reference to the yellow wallpaper? Deca loves Blake so it's certainly within the realm of possibility that he's referencing classic literature
@_mikkyo5 жыл бұрын
I honestly think it's more about Jung's idea of the shadow and the archetypes of the subconscious. A pattern repeated throughout this song and a lot of mythology and literature.
