Jamaison Schuler, Fused Glass Artist

I love using my decals to make suncatchers and ornaments but have traditionally used a frit mix and just random placement. This time - inspired by many others who have gone before me - I decided to take a very intentional approach. And I love them!

I think it's great that the paper didn't come off easily on camera. Now I know how to fix it if that happens! Thanks for not shying away from leaving that in the video.

Jamaison, I am so happy you did this video. I bought a cache of those beautifully designed decals and I thought they were wonderful and I haven't used them and now I feel like I want to do your original idea but I want to try this idea as well. These turned outt great....particularly the one with all the Marini leaves that you're keeping for yourself (good choice!). I hope you keep us posted with how the glow in the dark one works (photo please...probably will be a challenge though).

I really like the decals with the glass laid out with the design. very nice. You answered my questions about if the bails are fusible and where you get them.

On the bails, I use UV glue for instant adhering. I also use that for bails on jewelry, even if the jewelry is opaque, because the bails are clear! I don't trust the glued bails for some of my beveled jewelry because the pieces can be pretty heavy.

Normal fishing line is not UV stable and can fail after a while hanging in a window. You can get some that is UV resistant.

I am just starting with your decals. did 3 and I used fine frit and fired them twice before adding the decal and they were still bumpy. Questions #1 do you use 1 or 2 layers of glass? I used 1 . I have your show special of 15 coming and want to be really happy with them.

The key (for me… each person is different) is that I like to cap with clear which gives me the smooth surface
