Hi Mark, thanks for bringing my attention to this stove…was sure I didn’t need any more twig stoves in my life until you kept calling it a cooking stove and slow burning…..and you are spot on with that!👌 My first thought was that I would not be able to keep steady fire as such a small fire space and embers would burn out if I got distracted but I find this MUCH easier to control than any stove I own. My favourite titanium quick setup twig stove is now on the back shelf as this really does work for controlled cooking and I use it now at my base camp on a regular basis. I agree that if they ever make a mk2 version it should have more vents at the top to allow flames out and minimise carbon buildup when using pans that cover the top(which is most)

Don’t know why but I’m fascinated by this stove. I’ll wait for the titanium version with additional air ports before purchasing.

👍👍👍 Another variation on a theme .. and an interesting one. My Decathlon Store here in Basel, Switzerland, has a good range of products at reasonable prices .. and .. they appear to stand by their guarantees and don't hassle over 'returns / exchanges' (the latter, by my own experience). I read, people chirping, "Oh but the product (whatever it may be) doesn't go this, or doesn't do that .. " My comment on that is to research the product beforehand .. the Internet / You Tube is HUGE in that regard. If satisfied, get the product and then either adapt to any idiosyncracies it may have and /or modify it to suit. But then, I'm a 'boomer' (YOB 1950) and we're used to doing that sort of thing 😏. For Alcohol Burner use, I would just drill the holes .. 5 minutes work. Also, using the Top Grate with large pots should reduce 'smoke' .. the secret being, 'it's not about how it gets in, but also very much how it gets out' .. a larger Air Outlet Surface Area than the Intake being the Key. Furthermore, when using a wood stove on 'ultra-sensitive surfaces', in addition to a fire-resistant pad underneath, I put my SS Bush Box LF (I don't feel the need to cry over the weight) into an Aluminium Rectangular Mess Tin ('Dixie') and keep it topped up with water to just below the Ash Plate .. any suitable container will do, even a piece of box-folded aluminium foil. Doing this, I can cook on practically any surface and at the same time, mollify the concerns of even the ever-present 'Swiss Grannies' 😳. They see and report Everything! .. amongst the best of the Surveillance Systems out there 😁. A good post, thanks for sharing .. take care ..

Firebox 5" gen two all the way for me, the versatility is well worth the extra cost. Just did my first chicken with it and a 14cm billy pot with the firebox lid clips on it. Turned out perfect!!

Interesting stove! I haven't seen anything similar to that before, and it sounds like it has both some pros and cons, depending on what you intend to use it for. While it was pretty obvious that an alcohol burner wouldn't work in it without some major modifications, I was a little disappointed that both wood pellets and charcoal had airflow problems - never really use charcoal, but I've played with wood pellets a few times. Good video. I have a Redcamp wood burning stove. and a Trangia alcohol stove, among many camp cooking items I've picked up over the years. The Trangia by itself in the Redcamp is 15cm (6") from the cooking surface which not high enough for a good burn. I found a 12" by 12" (30cm x 30cm) camping grill at a local thrift store for $1.00. I cut the four legs and then bent them in a 'U" shape. 8 cm (3.25") each. I then turned this upside down and slipped it into the top of the Redcamp with the U shaped legs hanging over the top. This formed a wire platform. With the height of the Trangia of 5 cm (2")., I now have a gap of 3.0 cm to 4.00 cm (1.25 to1.5") which is an ideal height for heating pots and frypans. Totally agree with Decathlon. My wife and I went on a 6 month tent camping trip to 38 countries in Europe. We leased a Renault in Nice France and bought all of our camping gear (tent, cots, flys, blankets etc) at Decathlon. Excellent quality and we had a fantastic tent camping trip.

Mark, you've reviewed so many woodstoves by now maybe you could bring your own to market. British vlogger English Woodsman has done this, so you could, if so desired, do it yourself too.

I'm still OK with the Lixada titanium puzzle-box Emberlit knockoff your testing convinced me to buy all those years ago.

Looks good. I like the square format mostly but it works well. Fireproof mat is a nice touch.

Seems like decent SS. I dislike talking down of someone's product but the triangle shape got me tonguing my cheek. 'n ask me; face it it's no Firebox. ~ One of. Beauty of the old Beatle boots of the sixties was able to kill a cockroach in the corner. Triangle room may put a damper of that... If I'm going to carry 2lbs of stove it's no beaker to carry a baggie of simple charcoal, which I like. Heck, I'm an ember fan vs blaring flames..clean up after the latter. ~ Pellets? Heck, charcoal would roll out that big hole in the side. 'n triangle doesn't look as accepting to decent embers even if scooped in from a bon fire. I still have my carbon steel folder from the 90s that was twig/wood/charcoal. Flat sided pyramid jobbie..fits in a 6.5 X 4" cheap case @ 1lb-ish. (yoiks I just dug it out again to eyeball fuel volume) Two flip down holed bottom ash, near 7 er 8" vast space at base...large hole with flap and crutch to hold open or not. Top with permanent folded over ears for pot/pan that I never tried. Tight jazz monies days if it was 15.00 it was 10.00. ? ..meats on sticks was fun. twaddling on ~ triangle/pyramid kinda works going vertical with such large base, but horizontally/corners I'm not going to try. Good job on the vid Mark. ~ Shunpyke? Since GPS I can act on a silly once read (ok, I'm not that far out) ..of which way to go? Spit in palm of hand, slap the spittle with index finger and head that way it flies. (-:

I agree it's a good idea and safety measure to add the silicone/fiberglass matt for little extra money. Nice stove. + Added accessories.

Nice little stove Mark! I have really enjoyed your videos and channel for years. I personally am not big on folding wood stoves, as my choice is DIY soup can stoves. They are free, solid, work great, and because they are round they fit inside the other items of my cook kit. I have many different sizes(tuna, chicken, soup, coffee cans) and they are fun to make. But that's just what I like. That is a nice size stove though if a person likes one that folds flat. You mentioned it wasn't ideal for a Trangia, but would a fancy feast stove fit? It looks like maybe it would as its smaller. Or how about solid fuel tabs? Being triangular is nice in a way as smaller pots would fit on it nicely. I am always learning and will never stop learning. Anywho, great video and thanks for sharing so much great information and outdoor experience with us all. Your hike and coffee videos are my favorites. Sorry to ramble. G'day Mark, up front, a Decathlon store opened up here a few years back, and to be honest, after a half hour walk around, I wasn't impressed at all i.e far too many compromises with regard to cheap over quality for my liking, and sure hardware, and other chain stores, can be equally criticised for the same business model these days. However, having said that; in fairness there's still very respectable products to be found amongst all the other, "buy once, use once ..... and cry once" type rubbish. ....... Its become a "survival skill" in itself, LOL. Anyway, rant over ; ) I do like this one for several reasons; hinged walls. why have 4 sides when 3 wiil do, and being triangular, likely no need for additional pot supports, but I do very much appreciate the addition of the grate for cooking on. feed in ramp. (though why not hinge that too, ..... then you cant lose it). ash tray, (albeit susceptible to clogging up, .... good point mate). being triangular, can facilitate a 3 legged gas stove, (might need a custom notch to properly accommodate certain hoses, ... but hey, easily enough done). All in all, for 45 knicker, one of those great little items that's worthy of its modest price I'd say, ...... thanks for showing it mate. Cheers Duke

Triangular folding stove sold by one of my favorite budget outdoor companies. Huh might have to see about picking one up. Some simple stamping in the metal would have helped prevent the warping. Maybe we will see a gen 2 later

Mark I enjoy your videos. I see you are using a fire pad under your stoves. I bought a fire pad and it not any good. Would you please recommend one that you would purchase.

It lacks at least 1 side to be efficient. It would probably fit a better role if you removed one side and turned it into a solid V-Stove...

Excellent review, Mark! Have you ever tried the UCO flat pack grill? I picked up both sizes from Amazon a few years ago and they've been great, they're triangular and come with a similar protective case. Thanks again.

too heavy. I am not UL bikebacker by any means, but this is too much. I could bring this only for single day/ night trips. And for that purpose, there are cheaper alternatives, some are even almost free - DIY can stoves.
