beautiful video diary. lovely music too. there's something zen about springfield. could be the nostalgia, but i don't know. being born in 94 and moving in 2003, the city is basically synonymous with the 90s in my head

I got to say, I'm glad it's gotten a little bit better in some spots like where the K-mart used to be, but other parts are still bad or worse; the shopping area next to Firestone or the Concord shopping center. It really sucks because I used to remember going to Springfield Mall with my older cousin and playing at the Time Out Arcade. Life changes I guess.

I miss Empire before it shut down :( I only got to go to one pop punk show there! All my friends and older sisters told me of the great shows they saw at Jax but I just so happened to have missed it

down the street from the MVC was a Five Guys burger, in fact it was only the second Five Guys ever - not sure if it's still there

I spent the first 34 years of my life in Springfield/Kingstown/Fairfax County from 1984-2018. I loved growing up there, but by 2003 the place made an awful turn for the worst. I blame Gerry Connolly and Sharon Bulova for destroying the good way of life up there. I am now a happy resident of Virginia Beach and have yet to return to NOVA

The shopping center the K Mart was at had a Giant Foods and an Erols Video store in the early 80s.There was also a Best products store that I worked at around 1990. There was also a Red Lobster type of restaurant that I took a girl to for dinner around 1983 when we were 13. I remember our waiter spilling a glass of wine on our table and the manager had to come over. I think the section of the mall closest to Old Keene Mill has a record store around 1993. Thanks for your excellent commentary and a trip down memory lane. Your video on Springfield Mall is really good too. I will share some more memories on that video.

I was born and raised there before I moved away, and I love that town so much that missed those times before all the political bullcrap. It’s home in my heart.

Thanks for all this footage! It's cool to have this little time stamp of where I grew up, even though I'm still here. What would y'all say is the end or the periphery of NOVA is? I've heard some people say as far south as Fredericksburg, which I can understand because of traffic, buuuutttt...

There's always been so much traffic through there. 10 years ago for work I would go to the Kinkos there every night and print out paperwork I needed every night right across from that Paper Moon. I don't recall so much emptiness there then maybe it was but at night you didn't see it. Seems backwards that would happen there. I have a friend that lives in Elkton Virginia near Harrisonburg and there is tons of nothing like this there and that makes sense in a ghost town but not in Springfield. Wow.
