Locker Nuts

Janna went to the auctions without Jack and pulled the trigger on this dusty old unit. She later found out the owner had passed away 3 months earlier, so we were very intrigued to find out what was stored inside.
We found a few very unexpected items inside. What did we find? What were they worth? You'll have to watch it through to the very end to find out! Come along with us on this adventure and get a taste of what makes us Locker Nuts.

What is sad is that locker is someone's life. A great reminder that all of our stuff will be nothing but "junk" one day........

This is why I never hang onto to anything that's not worth hanging onto. When I pass on I'd want only certain things passed down (special jewelry, journals, pictures, expensive well kept items that could be of value later on) and anything such as old books old technology old good condition clothes be donated. The only things I truly throw away are really worn down used items and papers I don't need. Though I try not to purchase things that aren't of use and will just collect dust.

Beach Wifey Florida , I was thinking that, too.. my mom had Alzheimer’s and left all her stuff in storage.. it eventually probably got sold. Mom died two weeks ago.. I’m always thinking I hope I never see her stuff on this...😢

It's not that sad if you broaden your thoughts a little bit. Sure, some stuff will be trashed. But if you keep the things you like, they keep you happy. When you're gone, no one will want some of your [junk] stuff. But if someone finds joy in just a few pieces, or even 1 piece of your junk, was it really junk? Some lucky person whom you might or might not know could even treasure a piece of your junk more than you did. I fool around with electronics. I might spend a few hours building a water level alarm instead of buying one at Home Depot for $10. The one I build will cost me a little solder and time. The parts (semiconductors, resistors, capacitors, etc.) I got from the residence of an electrical engineer who died. Judging by the parts, he must have retired around 1980 - 85. He had disassembled old oscilloscopes & other electronic devices, right down to individual components. His kids sold the house and everything in it just as he left it. The new owner just moved in and didn't clean out the old shop. About 8 years later, when he needed the space, he said "There is some electronic junk. You can have it all if you haul it all off. And the old junk had a new life. I can see alot of it from where I am sitting right now. When I use some of it, I think of the man who collected it. There is no sadness.

Any way you slice it, this was a win for her. One she learned how difficult it is to profile a unit. Even it there had been nothing but completely empty boxes and other such trash. The biggest win for her is that she actually took the first step by bucking up the courage to take a swing and that does take courage. because if you are not willing to take the chance on failing, how could possibly think to ever win? Congrats on your first unit. You didnt lose or fail, this was a win.

Sad she filed bankruptcy and paid 13,000 to keep most of what was junk. Although.....those magazines are likely collectible to someone. That was fun!!! Poor Janna with her allergies!!! I wore a pair of brand new shoes in the box that I found at good will. They had rubber bottoms like the ones you found. I though great!, until I wore them to church and each step I took across the sanctuary left a chunk of rotten rubber. I wanted to die! So be careful with old shoes that have been left in the heat for years. 😣

This is exactly the type of locker that everyone looks for. Lots of boxes neatly organized, and lots of dust to prove nothing was staged. You’ll do okay on the sale of some of the contents, and had a $75 learning experience (which is pretty cheap btw). Who keeps junk mail? And pays storage fees to keep it? I wonder if the former owner would have ultimately been a hoarder... Good job Mrs. LN!

I kind of loved the locker. Not the paper, that was sad, but the few other things. Quick searches have the candy dish at $20 to $30, the cookie jar at $10 to $20, some of the older Charlie Daniel's t-Shirts can go for up to $100, same for Tim McGraw on ebay, I wouldn't sell this unit short. Check out that green glass bowl and see if it glows under a black light ( which are relatively cheap to buy). If i does then it's what is known as uranium glass which highly collectable and worth much more than ordinary glass. You might want to look it up an Ebay to get an idea of what pieces similar to what you found are currently selling for before you try to sell the one you have. Just a suggestion.. I am a royal watcher too and Princess Diana has been my idol since she first was introduced to the world, Such innocense distroyed. I miss her she had a special quality that no one else has. I like the Queen and i like the two brothers, Harry and William. I actually shook Prince Williams hand outside of the War Musium here in Ottawa Canada when William and Catherine came to Ottawa on their first trip here after their wedding we were also seated very close to them both at the concert on the hill they both walked right in front of me and my hubby. We had special tickets for Military families. It was in June but the year i am not sure of i get a bit fuzzy when it comes to dates. I shook his hand and said congratulation on you wedding and i told him his mother would be so proud if she were still here with us. He was very sweet.

Hi from England, Before I retired I was a wedding photographer. I remember watching the news of Diannas death early in the morning. That same day I was photographing a wedding in the afternoon. The bride was almost the spitting image of Dianna and just as beautiful. I'm a little embarrased to say that during the day I was photographing the bride on her own and started to cry. She asked what was wrong, and when I told her she said that she wasn't allowed to watch tv that morning as she had to get ready for her wedding. She didn't know about the death of our beautiful Princess. Seeing the mags you have has really cheered me up. Just knowing that someone cares. Thanks. regards, Bill.

I know going through papers is a pain, but sometimes you find some cool stuff. I've found sheet music from the 1920's and 1930's. I have the postcards my grandfather sent my grandmother. They didn't have postage on them. They are from the 1890's. Personally I think it depends on what you're looking for. Same with going to garage sales. I look for certain items. Oh and to get the stains out of the t-shirts, get yourself a bar of Fels Naptha. Works on everything.

I would imagine that it was a situation where they were having to put Grandma in a nursing home, and she was sure that she would get better and come home. So, they gave her peace of mind by promising to store all of her treasures, where they would be safe for when she comes home. We all knows where that ends up, but she passed, without worry of having lost everything she felt was her life. It's sad to think that the sum of our life being so sad, but someone really loved these things. I will just imagine that someone loved her enough to pay to store the things she held dear, and hope that someone loves me that much, when it is my turn. Probably all my imagination, but it feels good to think about it.

When you go through old coupons, look to see if they have no expiration. Older coupons didn't and they are still good. A couponer will buy them from you.

I think I had that same ivory knitted sweater that's in the box of shirts. Early 90sm penguin cookie jar: Debbie Mum is a designer--mostly famous for her fabric designs for quilting.

Diana Collection Beautiful! I would love to have that. I Love Princess Diana! Such a sweet young woman and so beautiful. Keep Those Diana and any old magazines. They are irreplaceable and you'd never get the true value selling them.

Locker Nuts...Congratulations on 10K!! Janna...you did a great job un-boxing. Too bad there was a lot of JM and NP in the locker. Overall not a bad unit. Thank you for taking the leap and buying without Jack. I personally would have taken all that paper waste to the recycling center and get paid something, rather, then have to pay a dump fee.

Jenna, those magazines are worth some money. When Jack said $75 I nearly flipped, because I am sure you could get a lot more for those. I once saved the old Life magazines and when we moved, I tossed them and after several years I was asked where they were and told that was a big mistake to toss them. When we cleaned out my mother's house, we found the old, old newspaper with the story of the Dionne quintuplets who were born in 1934 and the first known quintuplets to survive infancy. Somewhere along the way, it got tossed and now it is probably worth something. They led a horrible life. Go online and read about them sometime.

My fav princes Dianna... absolutely a treasure! I collect her items but I don’t have as many as this woman had collected. When you go through lockers like this you can really tell a lot about the person. I hope you preserve some of her memories
