December Purge: Bronzers, Highlighters, Clothes

End of the year purge! Everyday in December I'm letting go... of stuff! Some days it's just a few things, other days it's bags loaded with stuff headed for the swap meet, salvation army, the women's shelter or in gift bags for friends. Nothing goes to waste, everything finds a good home, where it can be loved and used.

Q. Why are you getting rid of your stuff?
A. We've just moved into a very cozy (small!) cottage and I decided this was the perfect time to downsize and simplify even further.
Q. Will you still purchase items or do a haul once in awhile?
A. Absolutely, when I find something that I really love. I'm not a minimalist, but simply downsizing and refining my belongings. I have no intention of neglecting my passions and hobbies. I will always be interested in what new makeup collections are being released, excited to find a new favorite shade of lipstick... Or in my kitchen whipping up DIY beauty treats with new ingredients I ordered on vita cost and I'll forever be blogging about and swatching the new Zoya nail polish collections. My hobbies aren't going anywhere. I'm just keeping my possessions in check, making sure I'm using what I own and working towards a more well rounded balance.

I love these videos so much more than hauls! I love watching your process and appreciate you taking the time to share it with us. It helps me think twice before mindlessly buying makeup at the drugstore or when I run to the grocery store.

I love that you gift all your things like that instead of hoarding them.. I purchase a lot too and after I at least try it, I gift them. My friends and family, really enjoy when I go thru my things, which is often. I don't let them take up room in my stuff.

I've SO enjoyed your Dec purge videos. It's so nice that you've memorialized the history of your collections (which, for me, helps to let them go). I used to take pictures of things that I knew I wanted to get rid of but had some artificial reason to hold onto them. Anyways, thanks for sharing; I'm quite addicted to your videos! :)

When I was travelling I lived out of a backpack for six months and when I came I got rid of so much stuff. It's all started accumulating again now, though. I love these videos you do as they give me inspiration to live more simply x

Thatvhappened to my lorac ... Actually the moment I removed it from the box it had already had a chunk missing...I returned that day. With the hard candy glows, you do wear your shorts so often, that perhaps you can mix some w your moisturizer and put on those lovely legs every day to use it :)

Hi Christine! I watched your Makeout 2013 and it inspired me to shop my own makeup stash this past year. I however did not start until this summer BUT watching all of your declutter videos has inspired me to do begin my decluttering process. Ah, something bit me ... I think I've been infected with your purge bug! I like your idea of "If I haven't used it for a year, I probably won't use it." I've been really good this year with low-buy 2013 - I found that the LESS I bought, the LESS I wanted! I love the feeling of owning my collection & it not owning me :)

I wouldn't even now how to start one of those! But what I could do is sanitize and take a boxful to one of my 'girls movie nights' and tell the gals to take anything they want. At least I wouldn't be tossing stuff. :) Thanks for the suggestion, tho.

Hello Christine, I haven't realized you still had that many makeup. So, good job on sorting out further items you won't use! I heard that powders never truely expire, maybe like in 10 years, so I personally keep every piece I have because one day I will need a new one and would not have to spend money, just shop my stash.

If your bronzer/foundation is cracked just add a little bit of 100% rubbing alcohol and smooth it over and let it dry. Good as new!
