I found an article about the issue and the official disqualified the swimmer because she believed that the suit didn't adequately cover her backside and left too much exposed. But this is a problem with one design fits all clothing because not everyone is built the same. In this case, someone with more around back would need a differently cut swimsuit than someone with much less.

@Chris Johnson I didn't. I pointed out the fact that not all women are built the same and that anyone with a larger than average backside would have the same issue, regardless of race. The problem were the swimsuits not having different designs to handle swimmers with different body types.

No idea why this pop in my feed, as person who used to swim and was in the swim team wanted to know more about this story but if you look deep into it I found this: A Parent Secretly Photographed Willis & Circulated Photos ‘As Evidence That Her Attire Is Immoral’, and Langford revealed that last year, a “rogue” team member’s parent took photos of Breckynn’s backside in a swimsuit “without her knowledge or consent,” and circulated the images online “as evidence that her attire is immoral.” She is a minor - that parent should be arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography,” Langford wrote. She went on to write that parents have been overheard saying that “for the sake of their sons, the mother of these young ladies should cover up her daughters.” Rather than focusing on swimming, Langford believes that “girls of all shapes, sizes, and races are worrying about their suits like never before,” and shared that one girl who didn’t have the traditional swimmer physique told Langford she was going on a restrictive diet and would spend more time at the gym to slim down her backside to better comply with the “modesty rule.” A lot of passion for a swimsuit. Let's hope that one race official decides to retire. Without trying to assume what her logic or agenda was her efforts on part of the kids is misplaced. She just displayed embarrassingly poor judgement. If she felt there was some kind of uniform issue or some kind of obscene problem with the suit provided by the school (that I am guessing was approved) she should jsve had a discussion with the coach and school after the meet and not taken this out on a teenage girl who is just trying to excel in a sport she appears to be very good at.

The uniforms that are being worn by female athletes in various sports (track & field, volleyball, swimming, etc.) really need to be more modest. They have become ever more revealing over the past few decades, and there is no good reason for that. No one has an advantage if everyone has to wear the same uniform. The focus should be on competition and athletic performance, not how scantily clad the competitors are.

These incidents highlight several factors, 1 Males participating in the same sport are not held to the same standard,2 over sexualization of females, 3 swimsuits designed using a standard body shape which didn't take into account vast differences in body structure found among women, with some having ample cleavage and or larger than expected hips and buttocks. the solution is obvious, only allow people there who are supporting their friends and family who are mature rational adults. realize the attitudes of some individuals will never be about the sport itself but rather their own agenda.

I'm a big guy, and not got the Adonis Chiseled Body etc but this fella tells the Police that his wife and daughter felt "Uncomfortable/Disturbed"....can you believe the Female Officer asked me to put a shirt on "You could wear a Shirt when in your yard". That was 2 years ago, yes I'm still mowing the grass without a shirt on...the nerve of some ppl.

The DQ was reversed and I'm all about that! It sends a message about fairness and I'm all about that! But that poor girl had to watch someone else take the points SHE earned. That cannot be overturned.

Since i lived in anchorage for over 40 years i have seen this lots of times. The swimsuit was never the issue. It was the fact that a native girl beat rich white kids. Period. Just normal for alaska

I was thinking swimsuit had a special design that helped her swim faster..if just a regular swimsuit what's the big deal.did she have hair down by crouch area.should have showed the swimsuit with her in it or without.

@Dovakiin seventeen Nobody wishes it. Its obvious. Your kind gets surgery just to have bigger butts, fuller lips, and darker skin. Ever seen a Instagram model? Kim Kardashian? But to be fair it goes both ways. Some blacks do everything they can to look white. Bleaching their skin and straightening their hair. So it goes both ways. Peace be upon you
