Really enjoyable interview. Dec comes across as such a lovely lad, so articulate and engaging. So pleased Declan Rice is now a Gunner, he is some player and still improving. Dec never fails to clap us fans before kick off and after the final whistle, we appreciate him and his actions state he appreciates our support.

So many people nowadays fans, pundits even "experts" are only willing to give a player that world class status if or when the player is at a top four side. Declan Rice has been world class since 2021/22 maybe even sooner but because he was playing for West Ham, a team that aside from 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 have been mid-table and below, no one gave him his flowers. Shame really likewise with so many others

Arteta signed him to be a 6 and since then he hasn't been able to play Rice without another 6 like Jorginho or Partey because he's so underwhelming on the ball and is poor in build-up. He isn't a special player, he's your average tall physical ball winner like Palhinha or Amadou Onana, he's just English so Arsenal got extorted for that fee.

Average players don't cost 100 mil and aren't courted by the likes of City and Bayern before eventually signing for Arsenal. The fact he's now playing a more advanced roll carrying the ball and taking most of the teams set pieces clearly shows his quality on the ball and the fact he's been one of the pundits (people who played and know the game) signings of the season. 7 goals and 9 assist ain't bad for a tall average ball winning player eh 😉
