I’d argue that you shouldn’t use products to cleanse that don’t match (or come close to) your skin’s natural pH! Scented makeup wipes and some cleansing waters do far more harm than good and with a good cleansing balm/oil that don’t use harsh surfactants I’d say that toners aren’t necessary!

@@emmablackery that's true!! however you'd also want a cleanser that gets rid of impurities, so no matter what you're removing things from your skin and your skin will react in some way!! also if you have oily skin (i.e. large pores), no matter how good your cleanser is, removing sebum after washing means that your pores are open and toners are good for forming boundaries over your pores to protect from further impurities!! so long as you know your skin type and how it reacts to certain products, you can remove the toner step if you feel like your skin reacts well without it, but toners can still benefit your skin!! (also you can get some w/ good ingredients, like aloe vera, ahas/bhas, hyaluronic acid, etc. so it's helpful for breakouts + moisturising)

I agree with Emma on this. Plus, more often than not I've felt like toners did more harm than good for me no matter what I tried. But maybe that's just my skin.

Also toners with aha is so so good for blackheads and whiteheads and so much better than physical exfoliation

I'd agree. I have oily skin and I find some moisturisers can make my skin feels oilier.

I don't know much about skincare though I wish I did. Why would it be bad for the skin to suck in the moisturiser If I may ask? I currently have a non-existent skincare routine consisting only of taking off makeup with micellar water/ exfoliating with a konjac sponge and applying a heavy duty moisturizer (since my skin is super extra dry).

@@daisymcadams2935 I meant sucking it straight in super quick and disappearing because it's thirsty rather than it gradually working its way into your skin over the time you're wearing it. I'm not sure how to explain it I hope it makes sense. I'm not a professional lol I just know that the function of a toner is to restore the pH in your skin after cleansing

Toner doesn't do anything für your skin...I never used toner and i am 41...and my skin is clean and soft and beautiful...

I use a retinol toner and it’s my favourite skin product it’s not just scented water some of them have good ingredients

4real...i hate those videos where people are like "I am so minimalist omg" and then throw away what they don't need... THAT'S NOT HELPFUL.. At least ask friends if they want it

But if they're both going to go off and you don't want to use one of them why not throw them away? Like have 5 hand creams that you can't use in time.

@@Cheza001 Exactly, to throw away perfectly good products are just a waste to the environment, give them to friends and family! I hope she at least recycled the packages.

​@@I_Couldnt_Think_Of_A_Username Hand creams last for a long time. I had a half used body lotion for 15 year, and it was fine for at least 12 years. Same goes for hair spray and many other things (maybe not 12 years, but you get the point xD). If it is not safe to use or is unusable in other ways; throw it, but otherwise don't waste it.

She didnt know how old it was hence it was out of date and should be in the bin.

I don’t know anyone who would use second hand make up, even if you can not afford any of your own it is a non essential thing that in most cases is actually quite disgusting to share

@@NatysAdventures yeah i was wrong for replying before finishing the video, i know i feel like an idiot, although many people still wouldn't have taken it. I personally believe throwing away a lot of the things she got rid of was short sighted as you're always going to use hand cream and if you reach a point when it has run out or reached its expiry date you then throw it away

okay but even if she used the products the packaging would still end up in the same places? throwing it away in bulk makes no difference to if she does it gradually. and even if she didn't buy them in the first place someone else would. the companies are to blame for packaging not being recyclable.

Chloe Charlton If the products are empty then it would be easy to just put them straight in the recycling bin but since most of the products she is throwing away are full I don’t believe she spent the time to empty them all out and wash them, she might have but I have doubts given the amount of stuff would be time consuming to do so it would have just been dumped straight in to her standard landfill waste bin.

@@SailorMoonFan92 you can't really assume that if you don't know, though I do think she should have mentioned her plans regarding disposal! I know I always do that and I see no reason why Emma wouldn't do the same thing, she did say in the video she feels bad for contributing to the planet being harmed so I'm sure she would think of recycling. I hope so!
