As someone who had to use a woman shelter years ago, I always get so happy to hear it encouraged to donate to them. Ours has a thrift store, so they let woman "shop" for free who come to their shelter or you can shop there and proceeds go to the shelter. I now donate there, they even take makeup, jewelry, reading glasses, etc so seriously before you throw out ANYTHING check around for a shelter! It helps women and their children in more ways than I can tell you xoxoxo

@@taylor3200 You could google your local womens shelter, and call and ask about donations (they will always have their locations private, but sometimes do have another location by a less obvious name, you might even know it and just not know its associated with their shelter! this keeps the women and children safe) and also Catholic Charities is one of the biggest charities worldwide that will take directly to women and children in need. I have gone through both as both a victim and also the donator. I only know specifically to my area but I do now help abuse victims seek help and those two ways are always my first suggestions :)

Girl, your comment is exactly what I needed to read! I have been holding onto clothes and accessories and even make up and toiletries that I never use but I just can’t bring myself to throw them away or donate to Goodwill because I keep thinking one day I will need them. I haven’t even thought about the women’s shelter, but if I know they are going to help women in need, I feel better about it. I usually donate to Goodwill, but I know they are a for-profit organization so I don’t really feel all that great about it. This gives me motivation to let go of a lot of things!

Love how you are able to let go. I create scenarios where I would “need” a dress even though I know I will never wear it again. Will need to re-examine and relinquish! Thanks for the inspiration.

I do this too - creating fantasy scenarios for when I would need an outfit, dresses are a particular culprit for having me do this!

I do exactly the same, and same as you, have to re-examine it before relinquish ! Most of my clothes I had to re-examine them 3 or 4 times minimum, but *finally* I get rid of them. So to all the people like us, don't give up ! It works after a while

I’m a 16yo girl and I use the “one in, one out” system and it really seems to work for me. But i don’t use the system as rules I use it as a guideline. If I really, really want a piece of clothing and I don’t have a piece to declutter I will go ahead and get it. Minimalism to me isn’t a set of rules it’s an intentional lifestyle.

I just cleaned out my closet about 2 hours ago and I feel like I need to go back and be ruthless! Your motivation is awesome! I can not afford ethical clothing at this time in my life but I hope some day I can! I also dont have any good thrift stores near me! I am a mama and I have recently lost myself in being a mom I am trying extra hard to work on some outfits that dont make me feel like a slob every day.

I like how you do not stigmatize a mom’s body and rather show that you just need to dress different but that doesn’t mean a post-pregnancy body looks bad. When I have kids, I want to rock a confidence like yours!!

I love how visibly excited you get about the pieces you really enjoy! I probably go through my wardrobe 2-3 times a year with the season changes. During the pandemic, we just aren’t going places anymore except work and maybe the grocery store. It makes it really hard to justify keeping certain things or buying something new. A video on how to do basic mending and bring new life into items would be so so helpful!!

All your closet declutters inspire me sooo much! My closet is a quarter of my husband's closet size. I have found to feel so much more relaxed with less clothes to have to wash and there is nothing that I "forget" I have in my closet.

I have just recently been going through my closet and wardrobe and donating a BUNCH of stuff that I don't wear anymore!! I'm not a minimalist in any stretch of the imagine but I'm getting there!! Slowly but surely!!! Investing in good quality stuff and going back to basics!! It's been very fun donating and getting rid of things that are weighing me down!

I just love your decluttering videos :) I have been a shopaholic for years after I got a really bad diagnosis so I had a lot of clothes and it was just frustrating me. Ever since I realised thats a problem, I bought less and tried to declutter but it never really worked out. I wanted to only wear clothes I love because I might not have the longest life and didnt wanna waste time with bad outfits, but I never managed to declutter clothes that looked good but not perfect on me and after I started watching your videos I got a lot better at that. I always kept clothes that looked good on for example me a few years ago where I had more hair and a different body type and then felt bad in them. So its really helping me to see you declutter just that. I also have the size problem and I really need to start decluttering the things that dont fit too. I have so many clothes that are top big because I always think I might gain weight again and its ridiculous. So Thank you for helping me with that!!

This reminds me I need to clean out my T-shirt drawer! I love watching you’re videos on minimalism. I started my own minimal wardrobe like your day closet and love it so much better! Literally have items that I wear all year round and my mother in law is jealous of. She switches out clothes every season and I’m definitely not that type. But tshirts I just have WAY to much of!

I'm not really in to clothing, I basically cycle through my six t-shirts and I currently only have one pair of pants because I haven't been able to go shopping and it's really hard to find pants that fit my body right. All that said, for some reason I love watching Sarah's closet and thrift haul videos! I just enjoy watching how excited she gets about her favorites.

I KNOW I need to do a huge declutter of my wardrobe because I’m in the process of healing from a shopping addiction that I’ve developed when my mother passed. I’ve already decluttered so much but I feel like I’m still able to let go of a few more items. Especially since I finally got my dream job and it doesn’t requires a casual chic kind of a wardrobe! She lives in Abbotsford, in B.C., it doesn't get too cold, just a couple degrees below 0 in the winter, very little snow.

Me and my husband just decluttered our wardrobes and I agree 100% with the whole body changing after a baby, this past year and a half I've switched sizes back and forth like 5 times T.T (also need I need to loose a couple of pounds) but I love decluttering everything, this weekend its kiddos turn and also kitchen :)

I'm trying to declutter my wordrob but it's so overwhelming. I'm two years post partum and my body changed so much. I am also on a fitness & weight-loss journey and my body is at such an awkward stage. When I get dressed and I'm not feeling comfortable, confident & happy in it I immediately put it in my donation bag. Otherwise it just ends up back in my closet and life is to short not to feel good in the things you wear. Ps thanks for being a positive inspiration and I love your videos xoxo

I am 7 years postpartum 🤣😉 And recently realized that my body is NEVER going back to pre partum. I am the same weight now as I used to (took me 3 years after my child was born) but I guess I am a different shape. So yeah! Get rid of all that crap that doesn't make you feel your best! We deserve to live in the present and not think about how we were or should be

Love this! Thanks for the motivation to continue to declutter my wardrobe. I've grown up with fast fashion and just recently started looking into more sustainable clothing. The first time my husband and I decluttered our closets we got rid of (donated/gifted) over 300 items! Now when I do purchase I'm much more mindful about maintaining the clothing, what is your process for keeping your clothes white/bright, avoiding fading of blacks, etc?

I totally capsule all my clothing at once, I don’t have the time to move my clothes around seasonally. I do this with the kids things too! With six kids it has saved me so much grief to keep everything in one place, even their winter coats stay out of the way pushed to one side in their closet all year!

I am gleaning ideas from several minimalist channels (including yours). I am "thinning the herd" (aka my clothes) a little at a time. Easy picks - what I LOVE and what I HATE. Then figuring out how much is enough and looking through the stuff in between love and hate. Not there yet but making progress.

I have decluttered my closet so many times and I can never seem to get it as minimal as I like because my life "outfit requirements" are so different! I work outside so I need good field clothes, but I don't want my wardrobe to be completely REI outdoor hippie looking lol so I need "dressier" items as well. I love dresses and leggings with a pretty blouse. I feel like I truly wear 20% of my closet 80% of the time like the saying goes but that other 80% 20% of the time is still super important because they are investment/seasonal/gear/beautiful pieces that I wouldn't want to have to go buy again. So basically I shift that 20% around as I need too haha. Between field work gear/ grubbie work gear/ regular jeans and tshirt / dressier pretty things. So per category I'm minimal I just have a lot of categories lol But I can say I do love and enjoy all of my clothes. It took a lot to truly get rid of the expensive things that just don't fit right. Most youtubers I see have a simple "wardrobe requirement" so having only 7 shirts works for them.

I was tired of getting dressed, so I decided to try a capsule wardrobe and pack away all my other clothes. It’s not practical for me to get rid of a lot right now since I have one baby and plan to have more soon, but I did realize that there are some things I just wasn’t happy wearing so I’ll send those away🙂

Yes! I need to declutter it!! I’ve been waiting because I just had my son 2 weeks and 2 days ago and I didn’t know what I would wear lol. I want to try to base it off the 6 month rule. Hard to do when you’re wearing maternity clothes 😂😂😂

I always take my clothes to the domestic violence center in my city after decluttering. The first time I dropped off (pre-Covid) they walked me through how they sort the clothes, how they distribute them, what they do with clothes that don’t work for their situation, and who gets the clothes. It’s pretty amazing all they do for the community and I always recommend my friends drop gently used clothes and small house decor to them.

Wowww. I just went through my closet. But this is inspiring. I have so many patterned, cute clothes that I wore in school. But then I graduated from college and work from home. I never go out and dress up, so why do I need so many clothes? I’ll have to rethink and do it again!
