Thank you so much for putting this video together. I have watched "Blackstar" several times and have taken on so many different perspectives. The Villa of Ormen seems also to be referencing the Garden of Eden and the candle as a microcosm of the sun. Poetically, he has orchestrated the act of looking into the sun much like looking into the overpowering light of existentialism and glimpsing the tiny flame that resides with each of us that manifests the sun. Also the transition from Bowie holding the book and panning into the room gives off this aspect through the roofing resembles a book laid open face-down. It's as if Bowie is presenting his book of life's work and revealing his own acceptance with the great void with his own act of creation. I have never seen something so elegant and recursive. I can sense that Bowie spent a great deal of his life creating this as his final masterpiece. It might not be understood by the generations of this point in time but further along in the future, I feel like it will become something exponential in deconstructing the conformity of religion and getting to the true heart of "knowing thy self". With this, I can sense the threading of unified consciousness starting to weave a stronger form of its own awareness. Overall, I personally feel like he put so much into this album, so much that it would knock hard on the door of the collective conscious mind of society to bring him out of his physical body and from his suffering. To be the magician of alchemical art vanishing into a trap door that he, himself, made. I could never forget the reference that Alejandro Jodorowsky made of Bowie in "The Holy Mountain". It was during the scene where the Drug Guru at the Pantheon Bar explains that "The cross was a mushroom, and the mushroom was also the Tree of Good and Evil. The Stone of the Alchemists was LSD. The Book of the Dead was a trip. And the Apocalypse describes a mescaline experience. In these flasks are all the Holy Mountains. And in this beautiful young man... is eternity." I thought yet another claim that the film is satanic, but surprisingly agree with much of your exposition of symbology. Being so overt, it's ridiculous to deny that four years of intensive, well executed, planned, detailed and timed work can be anything but deliberate. Also, the numinous and sacred triad is present throughout, as well as duality with the black and white youths, the scarecrows may represent the three stages of life, even the different personas he assumed and roles he lived out.

The way I interpret it is he is dying and being reborn again but not literally but symbolic as in he faked his death, and is now living as someone else. Death is not always literal in the occult.

I am not an expert of shamanic coding or visual language at all, but where you pointed to "the field of grain" I saw a clear reference, as I understand it, to the field of reeds from ancient egyptian mythology. This place is where the souls of the deceased go to after passing judgement by the scales of truth, if their heart is deemed to have been that of a person who lived a just life. I know I've said this further down, but it seams to have been overlooked...... The ORIGINAL "Villa of Ormen" on Tumblr, WAS Bowies page, he didn't take ideas from it, he created it. That original page was removed in December... the page on there now is a copy...How accurate ? Who knows? I think the significance of the buttons for eyes goes deeper than just a mask and may imply a number of things. Buttons for eyes could imply a rag doll , this might be a reference to rag doll physics in the gaming world meaning a character collapsing much like a rag doll, collapsing into comically improbable or compromising positions. Maybe Bowie is mocking himself, ... the fall of the great and famous Artist, so to speak. Or the buttons from eyes could be a reference similar to the one in the film Coraline The other three children let the mother sow buttons into their eyes, and she was able to keep them in the other world and their spirits are trapped. Wow, that's actually rather impressive, that you're able to interpret such depths in this song and video yet manage to be so wrong about do much. As you mention at one point that you're reading the lyrics it's really disingenuous for you to claim the word 'Ornen' is 'all men'. It's great for you to derive such depth of meaning from this and I'm sure Bowie would have approved that it had that level of impact on anyone. It's quite amazing, you've spent so much time watching the video and really gone all out with trying to demonstrate that the imagery and lyrics are a deeply coded message about your own 'spiritual' point of view while completely ignoring the overt symbolism in the lyrics and images. You can see interviews with the guy who directed the video and also some of Bowies own comments about it and there absolutely is lots of meaning packed in there 'shamanism' or any apparent support of any particular religion or any kind of spiritual belief is co-incidental and more likely a result of the fact that he was at the end of his life (a fact that he was fully aware of also). Naturally, like anyone in similar circumstances, he was facing his own mortality and much of this album is a review of his own history and also the absurdity of the whole music business and his place in that.
