I remember using my decoder card when this ride first opened!! The wait was insane and we had time to decode most of the messages. I wish I still had it! Wonderful memory. But now I know when I can get back to Disneyland that if I’m lucky I can get another one! Great video!

The “true rewards await those who chose wisely” was the AT&T slogan at the time. Thankfully it’s generic enough that having it on the walls isn’t extremely obvious.

@@provostparkpass Actually, they're only 50% correct. AT&T never used the full slogan, but they DID have a rewards program called "AT&T True Rewards" and when combined with 'choose wisely' from the Indy films, it fit well. The AT&T logo also used to be above the text in several locations within the ride.

If I remember correctly, Indiana Jones ride was sponsored by AT&T when it first opened (back when you had to pay for long distance service on your home phone (yes, I’m THAT old). Their long distance service was called ‘True Rewards’, so that’s why it’s mentioned in the Myragliphics. The cards used to have the old AT&T logo on them as well. I’m glad they aren’t so pushy on the commercialization anymore.

I spent three weekends in the summer of 2014 decoding every message I could find in a journal. I took painstaking notes and marked down every symbol in a journal book. Yesterday I took my ten year old daughter for the first time on this ride and brought my notebook with me. I loved every moment of this experience. I even had my original decoder card from the 90s with me to aid me on my journey. The cast members were super supportive. I even ran into a childhood friend of mine in the queue that I had not seen since high school. I would recommend anyone who is an Indiana Jones fan to do this if you have the time and an annual pass. I am not sure many have undergone this feat over the years!

Still remember standing in line on day one for this.. it was nearly a 4 hour wait. Have the entire inside cue being used, no gaps, and the entire outside cue, then go out to the entrance of pirates of the Caribbean, and you have the opening day line..

It was easily the best multi day vacation my family ever had at Disneyland so far. Because of the celebs from the day before public opening day, the Lilly Belle was on one of the trains. My family had been let in to board, but the train was full, me being a kid, I asked a cast member why we couldn’t just ride in the caboose? After they had a quick chat, they let my family board. It was so fancy and they let us ride around the park a few times before leaving. Then we got to ride in the front of the monorail for the first time, got front booth (floor level balcony) seats at the horseshoe revue show, and just a bunch of random luxuries awarded partially due to the extremely huge attendance resulting from Indy opening and the celebs in attendance. Coincidentally, also met my future ex-wife in line at Indy as I had a conversation with her grandpa (they were the family in front of us in line) and learned his name was ACTUALLY Dr. Henry Jones Jr! One daughter worked at the same place as my aunt, etc. He remembered me and our conversation when we met again years later when dating his grandaughter and made us realize we met for the first time back then! We had, hands down, the most romantic story to tell about us being together… all I can say is that I will NEVER again just brush off someone “emotionally cheating” bc it does eventually turn into the full blown act…

This is really awesome Chris! I see these maraglyphics every time I'm walking in the line but I don't have time to decipher what they say and thank you for translating them for me. I should get a decoder card next time I visit Disneyland. I remember meeting you and Amanda in that private zoom call you were hosting that event where you were giving personal zoom calls to people who got memberships with you and I was one of those people you were talking to. I remember saying Indiana Jones is my favorite ride at Disneyland. To this day, it still remains my favorite Disneyland attraction.

Maybe one day you can make a video about the FX in both the que and the ride that no longer work, or they were not able to finish. Such as the falling blocks effect that was supposed to be similar to the spikes coming down trick with the bamboo. Or what they had planned for the sun reflections in the first room, but never were able to complete due to budget cuts. I'd really love to know more about the infamous falling ceiling ice effect that no longer works. Also changes from the opening day till now would be cool to hear about.

There are also other hidden items throughout the ride but you actually have to walk the track to appreciate them. I used to do Custodial.

I remember getting my decoder card when the ride first opened! I miss when you axtually waited through the inside cue where you had time to take everything in. Then you could play all the interactive things and decode the phrases.

You missed at least 6-7 more things to decode in the exit queue. Part of an defunct Disney game that you played on your phone. The ones in brown were added much later than the original ones when the attraction opened.

Why dont you try decoding the alien language around The Tivan Collection in Mission Breakout. Unfortunately the only translator card was given out during the premier party, back in 2017 as part of the event card. They haven’t given out any cards since, like Indiana jones does

Gotta say it got to be pretty easy to read those Maraglyphics since quite a few of them looked like standard English letters, also was really nice of Mara to spell everything out word for word in the same language as us because that's absolutely how other cultures write language it's all the same word just with different symbols 🤣🤣🤣

It’s true, although Mara is a name shared by mythical entities of different genders in Asian religions and cultures. In Hinduism, Mara is a death goddess, whereas in Buddhist cosmology and mythology Mara is a demon king who attempted to tempt and seduce the Buddha from the right way.
