If you're wondering why Paul's voice at age 80 is a little shaky, a performance like this is part of the reason.

Don't forget Helter Shelter. Don't know how many times he actually sung it live if any, then again, don't know how many takes he had to do in the studio. He really pushed his voice to the limit.

Oh yeah Ip, true. I never paid too much attention until they made St.Pepper, but after listening to St Pepper I went back and start listening to his early bass playing and some were a little more complicated than I thought, but his St.Pepper bass roles were more pronounced. Since I'm partial to the bass I enjoyed St.Pepper more than the early albums. Although I listened to "Revolver" and found out that's almost like the St.Pepper when it comes to the pronounced bass.

I love this crazy song! I've said before, that this could have been the B-side to Helter Skelter. And I love Linda... RIP pretty Lady. I've always loved her backing vocals. I know saying what I'm about to say is really something, given Paul's musicianship and genius, and that he was in The Beatles, of course, but Linda's backing vocals helped set The Wings over the top. She's one of the truly naturally beautiful women and a precious soul.

@@luisdzidzornu3700 that statement wouldn’t be entirely untrue, didn’t Paul get a hold of his rickenbacker during 1965 and used it on Rubber Soul, he wouldn’t return to his Hofner until Get Back/Abbey Road. What are your thoughts?

The morons who want to give McCartney shit for his singing the past 10 years to now at 79 years of age need to listen to the vocal tracks of this. Recording this tune, singing like that, could ruin some singers voices for good. For McCartney it was just Thursday. Of course he doesn't sound like this or as he did in 1967. The beautiful thing is listening to his instrument age, like the thin maple/spruce/maple laminate on his Hofner aged. McCartney III from last year had some excellent singing on it; McCartney was forced to investigate his lower register and it sounds brilliant. This dude had competition in the 60's & 70's; Daltrey, Plant, cats like Burton Cummings, etc were great singers but Macca was always a touch above. McCartney judged with today's male singers is a literal joke. McCartney in 1971 and Justin Bieber in 2021 aren't even in the same galaxy...

Macca is my favorite singer on this earth. Nobody can touch him in his prime decades as far as I’m concerned!
@whatspadethinks
@whatspadethinks 2 жыл бұрын
@@thesilvershining There's never been a singer who had so many "personalities" as McCartney. He call them his "Elvis voice" or "Little Richard voice" but as you do when you mimic something it can't help but still sound like you to a degree. Even during the 80's when critics had written him off as a soft rock balladeer, he could still sing his ass off. "Stranglehold" off Press To Play, "Rough Ride" off Flower's in the Dirt, the Russian Album, etc He still had 85% of his prime voice going into Off the Ground, which I like but it didn't have enough material that he could belt on. I still look at Wings Over America as the benchmark for live singing...when I was gigging that was the 'warm up in the car' CD that I played most. One verse of "Silly Love Songs" and my head voice & throat would be ready to go, lol. If I sang along to the entire tune full voice I wouldn't be singing that night, lol.

@@whatspadethinks You're absolutely right! I wish I could remember what song it was, but a DJ played a new song of Paul's and said "Guess who sings this?" and a ton of calls came in and nobody guessed correctly, lol. I want to say it was an 80's or a 90's song.
