Hello!!! Great job! I’m doing something similar later this Abe am so glad I ran across your video, I’m definitely getting spackling for my project!! Also, a little tip (if I can), use bamboo skewers to adhere the faux dummies together. That way you’ll be able to separate them easier later.

Thanks! I didn’t know how to “frost” styrofoam! I tried and it was a frustrating fail but with your tips (gripper pad/heavy can on top) I will give it another try!

Yes, it can be frustrating since it's so lightweight 😩 but putting something heavy on top definitely helped! Good Luck!

Thank you so much for this! 1)How long before can you prepare it? 2) Can you reuse the foam for practice multiple times on? 3) is it hard to stick real flowers in it?

Honestly, you can make this months advance with the faux buttercream [spackle]. It hardens and can last for a very long time. You can reuse the foam by scraping off real or faux buttercream. If you take care of it properly, the dummy cake can last you a little while. I didn't have a hard time putting florals in, I recommend using toothpicks or wire! Hope this helps! 💕

I've also seen them wrap the styrofoam in seran wrap to ease removal and reuse foam.

Can you give your thoughts on remaking this and letting it dry and then storing it in a plastic bag for a wedding on January 20? Not with the real cake of course yet. But we an we premade all the dummies? 😊

I have definitely made a few faux cakes lately and never removed the spackle and its held up from months on end! I stored them fully decorated and "iced" on top of my fridge until I was ready to use them again lol So you can make your dummies far in advance.

Thank you for the tutorial, does the fake buttercream harden? Is it what I can scrape and reuse?

Yes, it will harden and crust almost like real buttercream. I haven't tried reusing it yet, but I feel like you can if you just scrape it off with hot water [just like I would do with real buttercream].

Quick Question… I also make fake cakes with patch and paint.. I need to make a cut out for cake BUT I don’t want to use buttercream because I have to ship it… I’m not including cake also… just the cutout

Maybe you could cover the cutout with a thin layer of fondant or chocolate?

Essentially! Its a putty to fill holes on wall. It has a very similar texture to buttercream!

Why would anyone want a styrofoam wedding cake genuine question was it just for decoration??

Most times, it's because the couple wants a certain look/size but don't actually need that much cake. They had sheet cakes already sliced and plated and then were served to the guests after they "cut the cake" and took the "cake cutting" photos!
