Hey Tony, would you recommend getting into the cargo van business at 20 years old? I’ve seen many contracts that say you need to be over 21. Keep up the good work!

You can work for someone for the time being. This is when you show off all your skills. Show up on time, do everything right, give great impressions so that when you come back as a contractor, they’ll know exactly they’ll be dealing with one of the BEST cause you’ve already shown them. But you’re definitely in the right mindset at 20 years old I’m impressed.

I wanna do local work as well no DOTs. How much can you make locally in your honest opinion. Also who do you get loads from do you stack work with multiple contractors. I would get a high roof sprinter to start and if it made a good return maybe grab a box truck to run that as well or even just another sprinter van. Thanks for all your input! ❤

I don’t do OTR. Not my thing. These are dedicated routes I’ve gotten over the time. Started with one, slowly scaled up. Harder to scale up when you’re doing OTR. And dedicated routes you don’t gotta deal with brokers etc. just show up and pick up.

Are you a third-party contractor? When you go to big corporations they require a DOT and MC number normally when you go through a third-party or a middleman typically don’t need one. What type of contractor are you?

Similar to that, Manufactures Contracts Carrier, Carrier contracts fleet owners and independent contractors which is where I come in.

My best advice is, if you’re going to start a cargo van business, get the biggest van possible to maximize opportunities. I got the transit connect after I got the contracts for it.
