finally someone does a deee lite reaction. I grew up with all these songs in the '90's, and every party you'd go to this song was to be playing at some point. this was around the height of Q-tip's (of tribe called quest) career. he did a lot of cameos back then. He did one with the beastie boys too with a song called, "get it together". bootsy collins on bass. crazy. this group is so overlooked as a presence in the '90's. I'm sad to say that I really took a lot of the '90's music for granted back then, but now I'm seeing how uch the current generation is appreciating it and I feel kinda guilty. It really was a great time for music. you might like a deee lite song called, "good beat". I think i like it even more than this song. it was one that was played I think more by the kids at social gatherings than this song.. anyway, good work.

This song was legit all over the radio and MTV back in the day, and we all loved the hell out of it. We loved Bootsy, we loved the O-Tip rap (A Tribe Called Quest), we loved the goofy guys dancing, and we especially loved Lady Miss Kier (I know I had a bit of a crush on her). All-around timeless classic, and glad to see you getting so into it like we did back then :D

Warner Bros. never supported them. I think they made 3 videos. After the first album they would not support their tours either. Look at the millions of views on Ytube now. WB must be rolling over. They had real talent and she would not lip sync. She could dance like an animal (not even break a sweat) and sing at the same time (in crazy heels.) She knew where she was at all times. They were ahead of their time and also the Seattle grunge scene overshadowed the NY House scene. Even Bootsy and Q-Tip couldn't save them. I'm a musician and that was my perception. Listen to "Who was That" Great song with Bootsy on bass. All the best.

Great fun 1990 song that harkens back to the 60's stylistically. Loved the silly, retro feel, combined with a (then) modern sensibility. These guys, from different parts of the world, were based out of my corner of the world, NYC, and they broke first in the dance clubs here in The City. Still love it.

@@KristinKali Well Kristin, I've been an active music lover since I was 4 or 5 years old. Before I was 12 I saw over 200 live music acts. I grew up in Brooklyn during the early R&R era and I saw all of the early R&R and Motown acts. After that during the "Classic Rock" era I saw over 400 live acts; probably every major act of the period. Twice. Hendrix 4 times. I also played in bands for almost 20 years. When the disco/dance music era hit I was avid collector of dance singles. I started going to jazz clubs in the late 70's. Although I continued to collect some dance and pop/rock music's I stopped going to those concerts after a very bad experience. I then swore only to go to see adult acts playing adult music. That was when my interest in classical and jazz grew, and now those are the only events I see in person. I am now the proud owner of about 7 to 8000 records and an overly expensive Hi Fi system to play them on. I still get to one event per month or so. Mostly jazz because classical can be very expensive. There is a singer from the 80's however that you need to hear. Her name is Lisa Fischer. She sang back up for Luther Vandross for many years (along with the great Ava Cherry). She is still alive. In her life she made one Grammy winning album and on it she produced two hit songs. The best showcasing her incredible voice and range is the live and beautiful in Tokyo version of "How Can I Ease The Pain" backed by Lee Ritenour. Her voice was Whitney level at that time. Clearly she purposely avoided the limelight and chose to remain a backup singer, but her voice remains superstar level to this day. Give it a listen.

@@KristinKali Yeah, I'll share a story. Years ago Steely Dan had just released "Can't But A Thrill" (1972) and "Reelin' In The Years" and "Do It Again" were all over the radio (of course my favorite from that album was "Brooklyn (Owes the Charmer Under Me)" because, well, I'm from Brooklyn). Anyway, we got wind that Steely Dan was going to give a concert here in Brooklyn in our local Prospect Park, which was a mere 3 blocks from where we were. In those years I was of course playing in two bands at the time and couldn't wait. We thought it would be at the big band shell which could seat about 500 people, but when we went there we found out it would be at the smaller band shell which had no seating. It was just a dinky little shell, barely a podium. When we got there, there was a band set up, but no band. There couldn't have been more than 25 to 30 people standing in a semi-circle around the bands instruments. We waited a good 20 mins, certain that this couldn't be Steely Dan, I mean "Do It Again" was a top ten hit. Sure enough, out they came. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter was their second guitarist and he did the Elliot Randall guitar part on "Reelin' In The Years". We stood no more than ten feet from the band, which rarely did concerts at the time. They did "Do It Again", "Dirty Work", the whole album. Our own personal concert. It was their only album to that point so.... Yeah, a great time was had by all. By the way, I know it's hard to post any Jimi Hendrix. But if you can, try to post from Jimi At Monterey doing "Wild Thing". The performance is still shocking to this day. Also, the performance by Lisa Fischer is a live one. She's still a lovely woman, but at that time she was a goddess in black tights.

I don't know in other countries but I remember in the Philippines during my teenage years. The resurface of 60's and 70's gad were all over. I was used to wear bell bottom pants, bots, tie and die shirts or shirts with psychedelic prints trying to pull the "Bee Gees Look" and this songs and other similar songs.
