Something I just learned the other say completely by accident is that the "I - I - I - I" sample that hits before she sings "I couldn't dance for another" is actually the first syllable of Eva Gabor singing "I get allergic smelling hay" from the Green Acres theme song.

I am surprised. it is such a mix of a really really great groove, kooky lyrics, fun rap from the early days by q-tip, bootsy collins for heaven's sake, a really great wit about it, all sorts of sounds going in all sorts of directions, and just fun fun fun. oh well. next time. thanks for posting.

There’s two versions of this song. This version which has rap part and then there’s a non rap cut. Both were played on the radio but radio stations tend to play the non rap version because it’s shorter. Radio stations generally like to play short version of songs. This means that they can play more songs and commercials. Especially commercials.

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8CPhLSqqpneZIU.htmlsi=-y9r2PhzXJO21FTv Beyond "Groove is in the Heart," it can be argued that Deee-Lite was largely typecast by the music industry and not truly given the opportunities to have their music played on top 40 format stations in America. "Groove is in the Heart" is a rare exception and that was a top #5 hit. A huge piece of evidence that Deee-Lite was pigeon-holed into being a dance music band was that while "Groove is in the Heart" was the sole major pop hit, the group had SIX #1 songs on the dance charts in their very short five year run. It would have been interesting to see what might have happened with Deee-Lite if they got more air time on top 40 stations in America. At this point in the "one hit wonder" marathon, "Groove is in the Heart" has to lead all songs with a nearly insurmountable lead of sampling a documented 10 plus songs in just that tune. Not surprisingly, the song has been sampled nearly 60 times and covered over 10 times. Perhaps the most recognizable artist or group to cover the song was Blues Traveler in 2023. The link to the Blues Traveler cover is the link above. I'm interested to hear the guys thoughts as I'm not sure there has been a somewhat "recent" upbeat dance type song on the marathon up this point. That will definitely end with this next video. 😀

That’s Bootsy Collins from Parliment Funkadelic playing bass in the video. To me, it’s a novelty song with a cartoon like video that wasn’t really meant to be taken seriously. It had its 15 minutes when it was on heavy rotation all over MTV, then it went away and was quickly forgotten about. MTV was full of one hit wonder bands like that until MTV itself became tedious and was rendered obsolete by the internet.

It's always interesting to see how people perceive different songs. I love reaction videos and I love your channel and no two people have the same reaction to any song. I've seen another reaction video to this song and one person loved it and the other person just liked it. Personally, this is one of my top three favourite songs because it's so unique and catchy and a bit 'out there'. I've always loved it I love the positive vibes throughout and the rap part is the icing on the cake.

Before anyone misstates this: Bootsy [Bootsy Collins [J.B., Funkadelic, Bootsy's Rubber Band, etc.]] DOES NOT play bass on this song!!!!!! (and "caveat": Yes. I, myself, believed this to be so, for years!!! However: it is NOT the truth. AT ALL!!! ) Bootsy's SOLE contribution is some background vocal! NO BASS, WHATSOEVER! "Kisses On The Wind" is, really, the early Neneh Cherry to hit. Her '90s (& post-'90s!) albums are, really, even better than that early stuff, too!

@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra Yup I remember it esp the fun video with a bit of it en español. Didn’t care for it that much. As for Neneh’s 90’s music, I only know her duet with Youssou N'Dour, which was cool.

@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 Her albums: Homebrew and Man, I thought were, both, excellent! [Homebrew moreso 🤷] ...she also was releasing new stuff 🤨🤔🤔 ...not exactly sure, now, but ...I feel as if it was in a window close to: 2010?🤷🤷 (maybe more like: 2012 or 2014 🤷 - anyhow: more recent!). It was, definitely, different (more developed, to some degree - but just: stylistically different 👍) ...the albums I remember hearing were called: The Cherry Thing (possibly a reference to her dad, brother 🤷🤷 - maybe both 🤷 - I don't recall whether either was ON that album, now, either🤷🤷🤷) and: Blank Project. ...anyway: both were cool & worth checking out (I.M.O.). 👍

@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 ... Personally, I, always, preferred "Kisses On The Wind" and "Inna City Mamma" to "Buffalo Stance" (which was more 'throwaway' of a song, really). 🤷 ... but I get it. I get why it was so popular (etc.)

@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’d venture to say that for some “Groove Is In The Heart” is Deee-lite’s “Buffalo Stance”.
