Love watching your videos. I never realised how amazing Tugs are , the workload they can do is incredible. I heard a great description of Tugs the other day , Tugs are the sheepdogs of the water. Very apt description !!! Thanks for the tour too, very interesting learning about all the equipment at your fingertips. 🚢

Good shot right there, Willy… 3:03 Is that uncle Joe’s Margery right there, or is it the one in the background? GOD I love those old style Tugboats.!! ✅ Don’t remember Anyone saying (everyone Assumes we know what they do) but is it the Pilot onboard that tells you where on the ship to be and how much power to give?? Don’t forget to ask Joe about Belchor Towing in the port of Miami … My friend that was a Mate when we went to NC made captain I heard, don’t know where he may have gone but his name was Tom White.!!
@tugboatwilly8433 ай бұрын
Yes sir that was him! He said he know Belchor Towing but Tom White doesn’t ring a bell. Also while he was driving through Savannah he saw a Belchor stack in someone’s front yard. Thanks for watching!

@@tugboatwilly843 WOW, a stack in your front yard, now that would be pretty cool 😎 Yeah, Tom would be around 80 now I would guess, IF He was still around.🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for checking on this, Willy..!! 👍

In this video and your in-depth video on the z-drive controls, you never mention what the throttle-looking things on the steering controls are for, and you never address whether you can control the amount of thrust. I would assume you can since you showed the RPM chart. Are those throttles on the steering controls? Thanks. Enjoying these vids, by the way.
@tugboatwilly8433 ай бұрын
Yes sorry about that. Those are the throttles. I should have definitely covered that. Thanks for watching!

So Capt. Your tug is both an escort tug plus a fire tug? Is that right or wrong. In other words if there was a fire on a ship or boat you could go and put it out right? And then it is an escort tug to pull ships where they need to go right? Thanks for the tour and showing us the controls. You have a lot to remember and to control.
@tugboatwilly8433 ай бұрын
That’s correct. I would not call us a fire tug but we will definitely help anyway we could in an emergency situation. Thanks for watching!

Second question for you if you don't mind I recognize the name McAllister on the tug and that is familiar to me maybe not this particular boat but the name McAllister on a tugboat but I'm not sure if I know that name from the Chesapeake Baltimore area or the Delaware River Philadelphia area . I'm thinking more Philadelphia but I have also spent a lot of time in the Norfolk Elizabeth/ James River area thank you once again

Synthetic rope is not much of a risk. Friction of the weave converts it to thermal energy and it drops near instantly. The risk is the solid bits the rope is attached to lets go. That can become an unpleasant projectile.
