FYI the bread used for panko isn't traditionally baked, it's electrified between two electrodes, which is why it's so light and flakey

Plenty of actual Japanese people simply use bread crumbs for panko, as "panko" quite literally translates to "bread crumbs". It is traditionally baked and shredded. You're thinking of corporate/factory/sometimes-restaurant types of panko. Please do your research before you spread false information.

I'm so glad you clarified the pork being allowed to be barely pink. I'm always paranoid about undercooked pork and even when the thermometer says it's over 140 I still think it's undercooked and like 30 extra seconds is all it takes to make it dry...makes me feel better 😂

@WintersMinion
@WintersMinion 2 ай бұрын
@@yungwildnfree So pigs are not picky eaters and can be cannabalistic the people that raised them would take advantage of this by feeding the pigs what ever food leftovers they had including meat and vegetables that have gone bad this caused pork to be very unsafe unless you cooked it to a high enough temperature and caused pork to have a bad reputation. Since about the 1950's they started feeding pigs food developed specifically for them the same way you will see with cows and chickens this along with inspections of the meat has led to pork being a lot safer to eat.

We discovered tonkatsu when we studied Japan in our homeschool world geography unit a couple years ago. I called it "Japanese Southern Food" because a deep fried pork chop is definitely something you'd find here in the South! We loved it so much when we made it for the unit study it became a regular meal in our rotation and we actually plan on having it again this weekend. :P
