The Purps have hit the jackpot again with this guitarist. I love Steve Morse’ playing but I am also highly impressed with this new fella. A slightly harder Blackmore-esque style.

Simon McBride - shades of the great Gary Moore - he fits in here very well. He doesn’t have the subtle touch of Steve but he can certainly put balls into his performances!! RIP Gary my all time favourite.

I can't help but think that sub-guitarist Master Simon gives DP absolutely great energy, he's better for me than Steve Morse and he should play permanently. This is the best thing happen to Purple since Blackmore. Simon really shoulders the role of guitarist here. He interprets Blackmore in a way like no one else, sometimes tone for tone and all of a sudden he adds things that fit. The sound is spot on. Steve Morse in all respect a unique guitarist but Simon fits in much better.

It'll be interesting to hear the change in SImons playing as this tour goes on and he grows more comfortable with the material. He's playing well, don't get me wrong, but a good musician, as they get more comfortable, will add more to the playing as the tour goes on.

Machine Head was full of great songs. This turns out to be the only song from MH to not be played live while Blackmore was a member of the band. Maybe I'm A Leo and Never Before were both played once during radio broadcasts, but there was never a Mark II live performance of this song.

Pictures of Home & Lazy, personally, my two favorites songs from Machine Head. Probably because the "amount of Hammond" in both. By the way, Purpura Profundo sounds great.

From Machine head this is one of my preferred song of DP. Is strange to see a Gibson instead a Ritchey 's Stratocaster. Ritchey remane the only one.
