I share the same sentiment and I agree with you 100%. In as much as I appreciate what this historian has been doing, sometimes he’s so quick to rebuke the pro-Asantes who have only reacted in order to defend the Asante position and leave those who even go to the extent of insulting Otumfour. Secondly, Berekum has never served Gyaman. Berekum has always been Asante. The stool was only hijacked by sons of Amankona Diawuo and in order for them to keep the stool from the actual royal family decided to severe ties with Asante so that Asantehene could not take the stools away from them. So as a historian he ought to know that the letter he’s reading was written out of malice and has not legal authority. You can’t just read a historical blunder to justify an illegitimate adventure today. We respect what this has been doing in order to calm nerves down but he has to be more accurate in some respects. Reading such document will only perpetuate the wrong idea that Berekum is Bono as some are still claiming. The town was set up by Opoku Ware I as an Asante military camp and nothing can change that.

Brekum joined asante confederacy in 1935. but they voted against the restoration of asante confederacy. I disagree with this historian on using that letter from 1933 as a reference. after the death of the first king opoku ware sent to establish Brekum, Amokona Diawuo 1 and Nana amiahene. there were no older Male royal. so they gave the stool to Amankona Diawu's son to be a caretaker. then the kids hijacked the stool for over 200 yrs.
