Seems like you need more weight, assuming the ground is reasonably solid below the snow. Use some of the cut up wood.

I wouldn't recommend pulling out a vehicle in reverse in a Toyota. It puts a lot more strain on a part of your drivetrain and it can easily break doing that. Also. an IFS isn't bad to have on a Toyota. We used to have IFS on a 1989 on a Toyota XtraCab running 38" tires. We thought that would break and had the swap ready but it never gave way even after about 220.000 km of use in severe conditions here in Iceland. Then we moved on to a Diesel Hilux also with an IFS, that held up although the engine was a bit faulty. Same size tires and everything worked fine except for the engine. In 2006 we got a new Tacoma, started off with the IFS on 38" tires, in 2012 we modified it to fit 44" tires and we still have the IFS in place without an issue. I would however point out that we have reinforced the IFS so it is not completely stock, but it can work and you get a better suspension system with it. Just to point out one thing also, the vehicle that holds the landspeed record to the South Pole, is a Tacoma on 44" tires and has IFS. ;)

Snow wheeling is scary enough. All of the sas trucks make it look easy. IFS almost catches all of it on top. Excited to see some more sas. Get some runners on here! Thanks for posting sweet old yota videos! N ice to find a good spot for it all.

Thanks for watching! Yeah we make things look so easy in our rigs, gives my brother and the other stockers false confidence in their rigs 😂 All good fun though, I know it helps inspire my friends to build them up.

@@DirtGarage cool videos either way…. You know of a video or link on how to use radiator in factory spot for an 83’ v8 swap? Everything I’ve seen they have relocated it to the back I don’t want to do that

I wish I had others in my area that love these old toyotas to share and work with. Would so love to do some of these upgrades to mine. Definitely going to be locking at least one of the axles.

Friends into old Toyotas are key, took me 6 years to finally convince a buddy to get into it too. It was a weird switch, as soon as 1 friend did it I had a bunch jump on the bandwagon. I would highly recommend a rear locker as a first mod to anyone!

Dirt Garage now I’ve been debating front verses rear locker. Either way I’m going with the Detroit locker.

Most of us have at least a rear, some have front and rear. We are in Cranbrook, BC.

@@DirtGarage I have 1989 4runner and I did SAS. I running 4.88 gear on 35 inch tires. I dont have money for lockers. I'm located southern California and I would like off road with you guys but I'm super far alway

Wow now that’s some deep snow, why does the 85 appear to sit lower that the rest?? Even the stock 1990. I have a 1990 myself and love it.

I’m going to have to guess you lifted the 85 or did a solid axle swap?? Also what engines are in these? I’m thinking and pretty sure yours is a 3.4 swap then the blue is the 3.0 you recently replaced with another 3.0 then the 85 and white 1990 both 22r??? I love the 22r myself. It’s a turd yes but just a great motor overall.

the 85 is a factory solid axle with a 22re (typically) 85 was a unicorn year... first year of fuel injection on the 4cyl, and last year of the solid axle. i had a 85 with the 22re, after i blew it up, i swapped in a 3.4l haha!

@@DirtGarage grind hard apparently makes some of their own, but we use another subscription service. Clinton actually got me into it haha, its so much better than any other ive seen or used in the past!

You mean Mostly stock is complete trash lol...Put a bit of elbow grease and a few more quick mods and lift it with decent tires and it will perform just fine. People like to talk trash about ifs but its because they like the easy way out...specialy on trail rigs or beaters like these lol. Either way, great vid and love all the Toys!
