This was perfect timing, I just stumbled on deepskydad few days ago and was thinking of purchasing but did not know much about it. I have the 294mc pro and L extreme and flats are a pain in the a**!

Thanks for sharing, totally agreed with you about it, I’m using mine on Redcat 51 for at least six months, this really make a big difference on my Astro flow using Nina.

Many thanks. This is a great gadget. Does it work for RGB and duo Nb filters? I use Asiair and need exposure times larger 2s. Did you test and have some example values for rgb and nb? I assume its not possible to increase the brightness value on the flatpanel directly. I'm no nina user.

Just a heads up before to many people ask, this product does not work with the ASIair. It needs ASCOM drivers to function hence the use with NINA and not ASIair.

You can manually open and close the panel and turn it on and adjust brightness with button clicks. It’s not completely automatic like in Nina but still yields to be a great permanent mounted option. This was covered in the video but not demonstrated but I can follow up with that.

I had seen this a few years ago, but was concerned how low and even the light dims. I have a 183mc pro and 294mc pro I use on a ED80 & 120 and 8” SCT. As we know these back lit sensors are inconsistent with flats at anything under 3-4sec so it’s recommended to do flats at 5sec exp shooting for 28k ADU. Can this panel achieve this when using a UV/IR filter?

Absolutely it can. Look at my exposure times with just a simple lp filter. I couldn’t even get close with the Pegasus panel. Had to use film and crap to get it down. So I’m doing 3-4s flats with all my filters. Ps if you get one I’d recommend to add the dew heater too. Saves a power jack :) unless you have that figured out already.

@@easyastroimages5818 this is very promising. Still though, an LP filter is very different from a UV/IR… at least from my experience. Will need to do more research cheers Astro.Junkie 😉

Are you able to take dark frames while this is mounted?

yes..in nina there is the flat wizard and it will auto close the lid and take the darks flats at the same exposures or you can add the same command line in the advanced sequencer..works perfect!!

You can, but the flat panel doesn't give you a perfect seal when closed so you can end up with light leak issues. Still a great bit of kit, but I use mine to take flats and then take dark flats every few months with the panel removed.
