Another cool video Fred.I had a 3 month culling stint in the Waioeka way back in 1975.Just pure magic.Been back many times since Similarly I never had an interest in collecting antlers.My first deer in Canterbury was a 14 pointer.Sold the antlers to a second hand dealer to help finance an overseas jaunt.Still get out in the bush as often as possible.
@nzmeateater
@nzmeateater 9 ай бұрын
Thanks Maurice, Its good to get a nice set of antlers for the wall for sure, but never been a priority of mine, I was just lucky enough to get a nice one in the helis,, But more important to keep the freezer topped up, if we pick n choose too much DOC will step in with the poison n culling and then everybody loses.,

Im 76 now Fred still stalking but look for the easy walks these days. Knocking the body about in your youth comes back to haunt you as you get older just hoping I have a few years left in me. Keep up the goo9d work brings back great memories for me and my life in Gods Own land.

Real hunting, old school rifle, no suppressor or dial up scope, pack in to your hunting area, and do the hard yards, great movie mate, all yours are quite different to what most hunters get up to nowadays, good original bush hunts.

Hey Mate your better than anyone I've watched on here. The family says the same. We deer stalk ourselves. Your the best on KZfaq. Big ups to you mate. You'll out hunt all of the young fellas on here. even myself mate. It's not about how big the head is. it's about putting the food on the table for the family. That's what it's all about. It's what makes your channel good to watch. Keep it up while you can man 👍👍👍

Your videos are great. I've found having the kids help carrying some of the meat out of the bush, gives them a sense of achievement at dinner time, knowing that they helped get the food. Now I'm 60 i want to keep pushing myself as long as i can. Good luck to you and thanks for making good movies.

Dont worry about it mate, not many people will go there, and when they do they see its been thrashed, lol.

I was in there on Friday and definitely wouldn’t say it’s thrashed in there compared to most spots similar distance walking. Certainly more pressure in the last few years thanks to EWL publicity but thankfully still some of the least foot traffic in that area out of majority of the Waioeka. Would hate to see access closed for us all from increased traffic, vehicle break ins, gates not closed, people disrespecting access and poaching like the rest of the gorge. Just my thoughts mate, have always thoroughly enjoyed your vids but just a little gutted seeing and hearing spots we’ve worked hard to discover on the tube.

@@antonriefler9287 I get what your saying mate, but to be honest I would not worry about it too much, access through there is limited, gotta ask to drive or ride through ,and they have a short list of whos aloud through in or on vehicles, because of disrespect before,,,, They have camera's set up..just for the dick heads. , the gorge has always been thrashed mate, even worse now with the use of thermals,,
